Role Description The Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) – Part 107 Certified role is a contract, remote position responsible for planning and conducting UAS flights in compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations and company procedures. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing mission requirements, performing pre-flight checks, evaluating airspace and weather conditions, and executing flight operations to capture required imagery or data. The RPIC will manage battery usage, flight logs, and post-flight documentation, as well as coordinate with clients or internal teams to clarify project objectives and delivery timelines. Responsibilities also include maintaining equipment, staying informed on regulatory changes and best practices, and ensuring all operations prioritize safety, data quality, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Strong UAS operational skills, including pre-flight planning, safe flight execution, and post-flight procedures.
Proficiency with aerial data capture and handling, such as imagery, video, and basic geospatial data workflows.
Knowledge of FAA Part 107 regulations, airspace classifications, and standard aviation safety practices.
Ability to assess risk, interpret weather and NOTAMs, and make sound decisions in dynamic field conditions.
Comfort with remote collaboration tools, clear written and verbal communication, and professional client interaction.
Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required.
Experience with common drone platforms (e.g., DJI or similar), flight planning apps, and basic troubleshooting.
Reliable access to appropriate flight environments and willingness to travel locally as needed.
Prior experience in aerial photography, inspections, surveying, or related UAS work is preferred.
