About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join the Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Engineering team within Optum Insight Technology. This team is responsible for building innovative commercial products that assist payers and providers with administrative and clinician-focused CDS solutions. As a Software Engineer, you will contribute across software, data, and AI/ML disciplines to enhance existing CDS solutions and participate in the development of new, impactful products. Your work will directly influence the healthcare ecosystem by improving decision-making processes, optimizing clinical workflows, and ultimately enhancing patient care. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the United States, with the exception of employees in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C., who are required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
8+ years of experience as a full stack developer
5+ years of experience with C# programming
3+ years of healthcare IT experience
2+ years of basic understanding of software development concepts such as data structures, algorithms, and version control (e.g., Git)
Proficiency in developing, testing, and deploying software applications
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications Include
2+ years of Python experience
Internship, co-op, or academic project experience in software development
Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development methodologies
Basic understanding of cloud platforms and modern DevOps practices
Exposure to web technologies, APIs, and databases (SQL or NoSQL)
Location preference: Madison, WI
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software applications aligned with business requirements
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to established engineering standards and best practices
Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to ensure code quality
Collaborate effectively with team members to translate technical and business requirements into functional solutions
Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving software defects to ensure optimal performance
Engage in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to promote team collaboration
Continuously learn and apply new tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance professional skillset
Contribute to the development of innovative features and products within the CDS domain
