Role Description The Background Music Composer will create original background scores and soundscapes that support the emotional tone, pacing, and narrative of films and video content. This is an on-site role located in Pune City, involving close collaboration with directors, editors, and sound designers to understand scene requirements and deliver appropriate musical themes. Day-to-day tasks include composing and arranging music, developing motifs for characters and scenes, revising compositions based on feedback, and preparing production-ready audio files. The composer will participate in review sessions, align music with final edits, and maintain organized project files and version control throughout the production cycle. Schedule and workload may vary based on project timelines and production needs.
Qualifications
Strong skills in music composition and arrangement for film or visual media, including the ability to create mood-specific background scores.
Proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) and music production software (e.g., Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, or similar tools).
Understanding of soundtrack structure, thematic development, and synchronization of music to picture, including basic knowledge of film editing workflows.
Ability to read or interpret musical ideas (notation or by ear) and adapt compositions to different genres, tempos, and cultural contexts.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to incorporate creative feedback and meet production deadlines.
Previous experience composing for short films, features, advertisements, or digital content is highly beneficial; a portfolio or showreel of work is required.
Relevant education in music, sound design, or a related field is an advantage, though equivalent practical experience will be considered.
Willingness to work on-site in Pune City and participate in story discussions, spotting sessions, and post-production meetings as needed.
