Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Developer / Technical Lead with 8+ years of hands-on software development experience to lead our backend engineering team and act as a key technical point of contact for our clients.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python and Django, excellent understanding of backend architecture, databases and REST APIs, and proven experience leading engineering teams.
This role requires someone who can operate at both technical and managerial levels — actively contributing to architecture and development while mentoring the team, managing delivery, and communicating directly with clients and stakeholders.
The candidate should have excellent communication skills, strong ownership, and the ability to translate client requirements into practical technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
● Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend applications using Python and Django.
● Define and review backend architecture, technical solutions, coding standards, and development practices.
● Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to quality, security, scalability, and maintainability standards.
● Guide developers in solving complex technical and architectural problems.
● Identify technical risks and provide appropriate solutions.
● Drive technical improvements, refactoring, and performance optimization.
● Stay current with emerging Python, backend, cloud, and software architecture practices.
Team Leadership
● Lead and mentor a team of Python/backend developers.
● Allocate tasks and monitor development progress.
● Conduct technical discussions and provide guidance to team members.
● Support developers in resolving technical blockers.
● Review team performance and contribute to technical capability development.
● Promote engineering best practices, knowledge sharing, and collaborative working.
● Work closely with QA, frontend, DevOps, and product teams to ensure smooth delivery.
Client Management
● Act as a technical point of contact for the client.
● Participate in client meetings and technical discussions, including during overlapping international hours as needed.
● Understand client requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
● Explain technical approaches, limitations, risks, and timelines to clients in a clear manner.
● Handle technical clarifications and resolve client concerns.
● Build strong and professional relationships with client stakeholders.
● Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, dependencies, and technical issues.
● Manage expectations and ensure alignment between client requirements and engineering deliverables.
Development & Delivery
● Develop and review high-quality Python/Django code when required.
● Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend services.
● Work with relational and NoSQL databases.
● Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
● Ensure appropriate unit testing, integration testing, logging, and monitoring.
● Collaborate with DevOps teams on deployment and production support.
● Participate in production issue investigation and root-cause analysis.
● Ensure projects are delivered within agreed timelines and quality standards.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical
● 8+ years of professional software development experience.
● Strong hands-on experience with Python.
● Strong expertise in Django / Django REST Framework.
● Strong understanding of backend architecture and application design.
● Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
● Strong knowledge of SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL/MySQL.
● Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB is an advantage.
● Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and Python best practices.
● Experience with Git/GitHub or similar version control systems.
● Good understanding of application security, scalability, performance, and reliability.
● Experience with unit testing and automated testing practices.
● Understanding of cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Leadership
● 5+ years of proven experience leading or mentoring backend development teams.
● Ability to conduct code reviews and technical discussions.
● Experience breaking down requirements into technical tasks.
● Ability to estimate development effort and identify technical dependencies.
● Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
● Ability to balance technical quality with business requirements and delivery timelines.
Client Management
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Comfortable participating in client-facing meetings, including outside standard hours when required.
● Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
● Experience gathering requirements and clarifying business needs.
● Ability to handle client escalations and technical discussions professionally.
● Strong stakeholder management skills.

● AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS, and CloudWatch.
● Docker and Kubernetes.
