# Senior AI Engineer
## About the Role
Deduction.com is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join its growing AI team and work closely with the Founding AI Engineer to expand, harden, and scale its agentic AI systems.
This role sits at the intersection of AI platform engineering and production backend development. You will build durable infrastructure that enables the company's AI agent, Taylor, to reason through complex tax logic for a growing client base. The role focuses on making non-deterministic AI systems reliable, scalable, secure, and suitable for a regulated, high-stakes fintech environment.

## Key Responsibilities
* Work with the Founding AI Engineer to architect and scale robust, governed AI systems.
* Design and evolve AI platform infrastructure for production use.
* Build sophisticated context engineering systems that manage memory and state at scale.
* Improve AI system reliability, performance, and user experience.
* Design and implement a multi-layered AI evaluation platform for continuous quality improvement.
* Develop comprehensive offline test suites and LLM-as-a-judge scoring through the AI Auditor.
* Incorporate production-based CPA moderation into the evaluation process to create a continuous data flywheel.
* Develop production-ready TypeScript using Node.js.
* Integrate AI capabilities seamlessly into the core fintech platform.
* Design security-first context boundaries and data retrieval paths.
* Enforce security, privacy, and compliance guardrails throughout AI systems.
* Use advanced AI coding assistants and automated testing as part of AI-native development.
* Establish and share AI-native engineering best practices across the team.
* Collaborate with senior technical leads through brainstorming, peer review, and iterative system design.
* Experiment, ship, and iterate in a rapidly evolving AI environment.
## Required Qualifications
* Proven production AI experience taking AI features beyond prototypes and into production at scale.
* Demonstrated experience building systems where context, memory, and state management are central technical challenges.
* Production experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
* Production experience with AI orchestration and evaluation.
* Ability to collaborate closely with senior technical leads on complex system designs.
* Understanding of the requirements of building AI systems in fintech or other regulated, high-stakes environments.
* Strong discipline around reliability and accuracy in regulated environments.
* Ability to work effectively from initial development through scaling.
* Comfort operating in an evolving technical environment with changing priorities and requirements.
* Active use of AI tools as a core part of the software development workflow.
## Preferred Qualifications
* Familiarity with observability tooling.
* Experience with advanced AI coding assistants and automated testing.
* Experience designing security, privacy, and compliance controls for AI systems.
* Experience with LLM-as-a-judge evaluation approaches and production feedback loops.
* Experience building agentic AI systems or AI reasoning platforms.
