Role Description The Sports Editor will manage and curate sports content, with a strong focus on cricket and coverage of other major sports as needed. This full-time, on-site role based in Janakpuri involves overseeing match reports, opinion pieces, features, and live updates, as well as editing and refining contributions from writers and freelancers. The Sports Editor will plan daily and weekly coverage, assign stories, maintain editorial standards, and ensure timely, accurate reporting aligned with Criclive.in’s tone and audience expectations. The role also includes liaising with the social media and web teams to optimize content for digital platforms, monitoring sports news trends, and engaging with the fan community through editorial features and interactive content.
Qualifications
Strong skills in Sports Writing and general Writing, with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and accurate content.
Solid foundation in Journalism, including news judgment, fact-checking, and ethical reporting practices.
Experience creating and editing Press Releases and other media communications related to sports coverage.
In-depth knowledge of cricket and familiarity with other sports such as Football, with the ability to interpret matches and statistics for a broad audience.
Prior experience in an editorial or newsroom environment, ideally in sports media or digital publishing.
Excellent command of English, strong editing and proofreading abilities, and attention to detail under tight deadlines.
Comfort working with content management systems and basic understanding of SEO and social media best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Ability to collaborate with diverse teams, respond constructively to feedback, and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving sports news cycle.
