Role Description The Compliance Officer (Merchant Banking) is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. This role is responsible for overseeing compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies related to merchant banking and payment operations. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring regulatory updates, reviewing and approving transactions and new products for compliance risks, drafting and updating compliance policies, and conducting internal audits and control checks. The Compliance Officer will also provide guidance and training to teams, prepare reports for senior management and regulators, and collaborate with finance, operations, and legal departments to address compliance issues. The role requires proactive identification of potential risks and implementation of corrective measures to maintain a strong compliance culture.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Compliance Management and Regulatory Compliance, particularly in merchant banking, payments, or financial services.
Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to interpret regulations, assess risks, and evaluate complex financial transactions.
Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to prepare clear reports, interact with regulators, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Candidates should possess foundational knowledge in Finance, with experience in banking, capital markets, or payment services considered an advantage.
Relevant bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business, or a related field; professional certifications in compliance, AML, or risk management are beneficial.
Demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, and make sound, ethical decisions under time constraints.
Prior experience in a compliance or risk role within merchant banking, payment institutions, or financial services in India is highly desirable.
