## About the Role
Aerostrat is a fast-growing B2B SaaS company building maintenance planning solutions for the aviation industry. Its core product, Aerros, helps airlines and aircraft operators plan maintenance across hundreds of aircraft while understanding maintenance costs and operational efficiency.
As a **Senior Backend Software Engineer**, you will play a critical role in expanding Aerostrat's infrastructure and APIs to support continued customer growth. You will design and build scalable backend systems, solve complex customer problems, and contribute directly to product direction within a small, high-impact engineering team.
You do not need prior aviation experience. Aerostrat provides onboarding to help engineers learn aviation maintenance planning.
## Key Responsibilities
* Learn aviation maintenance planning through Aerostrat's onboarding process.
* Analyze complex customer problems and develop effective backend solutions.
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable systems and well-tested features.
* Design and implement reliable, high-quality, performant, and sustainable services.
* Build and maintain infrastructure and APIs that scale with customer needs.
* Collaborate with the business team to develop user stories and technical designs from ambiguous requirements or problems.
* Contribute to product direction and turn ideas into production-ready features.
* Work across different areas of the engineering lifecycle, including design and deployments.
* Work directly with customers when developing integrations.
* Produce technical designs for other engineers.
* Contribute to improving and evolving the engineering technology stack.
## Required Qualifications
* 5+ years of professional experience with **C#/.NET**.
* 5+ years of professional experience with **SQL databases**.
* 3+ years of professional experience building **REST APIs**.
* 3+ years of professional experience working on **Azure or AWS cloud projects**.
* 3+ years of professional experience creating technical designs for other engineers.
* Significant experience building and consuming REST APIs and microservices.
* Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to develop solutions to customer problems.
* Strong written communication skills and a positive communication style.
* Self-motivated approach to learning, problem-solving, and improving engineering systems.
## Preferred Qualifications
* Aerospace maintenance experience or interest in the aerospace industry.
* Experience building **B2B SaaS applications**.

## Work Arrangement & Schedule
* **Job Type:** Full-time
* **Work Arrangement:** Fully remote
* **Preferred Location:** Within 50 miles of Seattle, WA
* **Schedule:** Monday–Friday, normal business hours
* **Hours:** Flexible, with a strong focus on results rather than time spent available on Slack
