Role Description The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is a full-time remote role responsible for overseeing the firm’s enterprise-wide risk framework and ensuring effective identification, measurement, monitoring, and mitigation of key risks. The CRO will lead the risk management function, set risk appetite in collaboration with senior leadership, and establish policies and procedures covering credit, market, operational, and strategic risks. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing risk reports and metrics, assessing exposure across products and business units, and advising on risk implications of new initiatives, transactions, and investments. The CRO will chair or participate in risk committees, coordinate stress testing and scenario analysis, and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards. This role also involves mentoring risk team members, enhancing risk culture across the organization, and presenting clear risk insights and recommendations to the executive team and board.
Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in Enterprise Risk Management, including risk frameworks, governance structures, and policy development.
Strong experience in Credit Risk Management, with the ability to evaluate counterparty risk, portfolio concentration, and credit exposure.
Proficiency in Market Risk, including assessment of trading and investment positions, market volatility, and hedging strategies.
Solid background in Finance, with understanding of financial instruments, capital markets, and balance sheet management.
Advanced Analytical Skills, including quantitative analysis, data interpretation, and use of risk modeling or reporting tools.
Proven leadership experience in a senior risk role within financial services or a related regulated industry.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex risk issues to diverse stakeholders.
Track record of collaborating effectively with front office, operations, compliance, and technology teams.
Familiarity with applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practices in risk management.
Relevant advanced degree (e.g., Finance, Economics, Business, or related field) and/or professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA preferred.
