User Experience Designer Intern

Role Description The User Experience Designer Intern volunteer role is a remote position focused on supporting digital products and platforms that serve global NGO initiatives. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with user research activities, such as interviews, surveys, and synthesizing findings into clear insights. The intern will help apply design thinking methods to define user problems, brainstorm solutions, and contribute to user flows and information architecture. Responsibilities also include supporting visual design and UX layout for web or mobile interfaces, creating low- to mid-fidelity prototypes, and collaborating with mentors to iterate based on feedback. The role offers hands-on experience in a mission-driven environment, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure usable, inclusive, and impactful user experiences.
Qualifications
Ability to apply Design Thinking methods to understand user needs, define problems, and explore creative, user-centered solutions.
Foundational User Research skills, including planning research activities, gathering qualitative and quantitative data, and synthesizing insights.
<li.basic user experience (ux) knowledge, including flows, interaction patterns, information architecture, and usability considerations.< li>
Visual Design and Prototyping skills to create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using common design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present design ideas clearly and incorporate feedback constructively.
Interest in social impact, NGOs, or mission-driven work, and a willingness to learn in a remote, cross-cultural environment.
Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Design, HCI, Digital Media, Psychology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Ability to manage time effectively, work independently as a volunteer, and adhere to agreed deadlines and commitments.
