Sr. Cloud Architect

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Cloud Architect based in India.
This is a senior cloud architecture role providing technical leadership across cloud architecture, engineering, operations, and modernization initiatives. You will help define and execute cloud strategy across multi-cloud environments while establishing standards for secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective solutions. The role combines strategic architecture with hands-on technical leadership across cloud platforms, infrastructure, networking, security, containers, and automation. You will lead complex migration and modernization programs while partnering with engineering, security, research and development, enterprise architecture, and business teams. A strong focus on infrastructure as code, DevOps, governance, reliability, and continuous improvement will be central to the role. You will also influence executive-level technology decisions and help shape the evolution of global technology platforms.
Accountabilities
Serve as a cloud architecture subject matter expert, providing strategic direction, governance, technical leadership, and architectural guidance across cloud platforms and services.
Design, deploy, and support secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and other cloud environments.
Lead complex cloud initiatives from strategy and architecture through implementation, coordinating with project managers, engineers, vendors, and service providers.
Define and maintain cloud architecture standards, design patterns, operational procedures, technology roadmaps, and governance practices.
Establish and optimize multi-cloud operational support models, including processes, runbooks, standard operating procedures, and service management practices.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, research and development teams, security teams, and enterprise architects to develop integrated cloud solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
Lead and guide cloud migration initiatives, including application modernization and large-scale infrastructure transitions.
Champion infrastructure as code, automation, DevOps, and cloud governance practices to improve engineering efficiency, consistency, and delivery.
Assess architectural and operational risks and develop mitigation strategies supporting business continuity, security, compliance, resilience, and operational excellence.
Drive continuous improvement across cloud performance, reliability, security, scalability, disaster recovery, backup, retention, and cost optimization.
Provide technical recommendations to senior stakeholders and translate complex business requirements into scalable, sustainable cloud architectures.
Mentor technical teams and contribute to the adoption of emerging technologies, open-source solutions, and modern cloud engineering practices.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field; an advanced degree and relevant cloud certifications are preferred.
10+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise cloud solutions.
Professional-level certification in AWS, Azure, or equivalent cloud technologies.
Proven experience leading large-scale cloud transformation and migration programs.
Deep expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure operations, networking, storage, virtualization, containers, security, and governance.
Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Azure in enterprise environments.
Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes, VMware, and containerized application platforms.
Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code and automation technologies, including Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, Python, GitLab, and Azure DevOps.
Experience designing high-availability, disaster recovery, backup, retention, and resilient infrastructure architectures.
Strong understanding of cloud security frameworks, vulnerability management, compliance requirements, and security best practices.
Working knowledge of Linux, Windows, database technologies, and IT service management practices.
Experience working with Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies.
Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions and clear executive-level recommendations.
Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and mentoring skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on technical excellence and operational reliability.
