YouTube Video Editor & Channel Operations Assistant

AlphaMind Chess Hub is hiring a part-time YouTube Video Editor & Channel Operations Assistant to support our growing chess education channel.
This is a recurring remote contractor role for someone who can take ownership of the weekly YouTube workflow, not just edit individual videos.
CURRENT WEEKLY SCOPE
The typical weekly content batch includes approximately:
• 2 long-form YouTube videos
• Around 8 Shorts, currently mostly repurposed from long-form content
• Around 2 thumbnails based on provided or approved direction
• Around 1 Community post or poll
• Uploading, scheduling and final publishing checks
The content mix may evolve over time, including separately created Shorts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Edit long-form educational YouTube videos
• Repurpose long-form content into engaging Shorts
• Create or execute thumbnails based on approved direction
• Add captions, graphics, zooms, B-roll and other supporting visual elements where appropriate
• Clean and balance audio and video
• Prepare descriptions, chapters, captions and relevant metadata
• Add cards, end screens and playlists where required
• Upload and schedule YouTube content
• Perform final quality control before publishing
• Organize project files and source assets clearly
• Follow channel SOPs and established workflows
• Handle revisions and feedback reliably
• Communicate early if something is missing or could affect a deadline
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• Strong video editing fundamentals
• Experience editing long-form YouTube content
• Experience creating Shorts or Reels
• Good understanding of pacing, viewer retention and visual clarity
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain consistency
• Strong attention to detail
• Reliable communication while working remotely
• Comfortable handling recurring weekly deadlines
• Own computer capable of editing long-form content
• Reliable internet connection
• Comfortable working with cloud storage and large video files
YOUTUBE OPERATIONS EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS
Experience with any of the following is valuable:
• YouTube Studio
• Uploading and scheduling
• Titles and descriptions
• Chapters and timestamps
• Captions and subtitles
• Playlists
• Cards and end screens
• Shorts publishing
• Community posts
• Basic YouTube analytics
• File and content organization
CHESS KNOWLEDGE
Chess knowledge is useful but not required.
You should either understand basic chess terminology and notation already or be willing to learn what is necessary for editing the content accurately.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
• Remote
• Part-time
• Recurring monthly contractor arrangement
• No fixed daily shift
• Work is primarily deliverable based
• One complete weekly content batch should normally be completed within 7 calendar days after complete source materials are provided
• Work-related messages should generally be answered within 24 hours on working days
• Applicants must be 18 or older

This role is a good fit for someone looking for consistent long-term work with one channel rather than only isolated freelance editing projects.
We are looking for someone who can gradually become familiar with the channel, improve the workflow over time and take increasing ownership of content execution.
