Role Description The Editor at Summon Newspaper is a full-time, on-site role based in Pachpadra. The Editor reviews, refines, and approves articles, headlines, and other content to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with editorial guidelines. Daily responsibilities include assigning stories, guiding reporters, managing deadlines, and coordinating with designers and other staff to prepare each edition. The Editor also checks facts, enforces style standards, and addresses corrections or feedback from readers and internal stakeholders. In addition, the role involves planning future coverage, supporting newsroom workflow, and helping maintain the publication’s ethical and professional standards.
Qualifications
Strong editorial and writing abilities, including grammar, structure, and attention to detail.
Experience with news judgment, story selection, and content planning for print or digital publications.
Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in using newsroom or publishing tools, and comfort with basic digital workflows.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with reporters, photographers, and other staff.
Demonstrated commitment to ethical journalism, accuracy, and impartiality.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Prior editorial experience in newspapers or similar media outlets is strongly preferred.
