Our client is a leading web3 Financial Platform pivoting into the Traditional Finance space. They are looking for a technical leader with knowledge of TradFi data ecosystem to build their financial data capabilities from 0 to 1.
Responsibilities
Data Ecosystem Development: Lead the end-to-end planning and development of the financial data ecosystem, from evaluating and integrating upstream data sources, including market data, financial data and fundamentals, to establishing unified data models, metric systems, and knowledge graphs. Build a comprehensive governance framework covering data standards, data quality, and service levels.
Architecture Design and Technical Review: Lead architecture design and technical reviews for key projects. Make well-founded technical decisions on data source selection, real-time and offline pipeline architecture, and PB-scale data processing solutions. Bring hands-on experience in engineering challenges related to data ingestion protocols, timeliness, licensing, and stability, and be able to identify and mitigate systemic risks.
Business Support and Communication: Work closely with stakeholders across Trading Product, Quantitative Research, AI Algorithms, and other business functions. Break down ambiguous business problems into clear data requirements, while translating complex data quality issues or technical limitations into language and trade-off recommendations that business stakeholders can understand.
Team Management and Delivery: Lead the financial data development team and define the medium- to long-term technical direction, capability roadmap, and delivery plan. Prioritize initiatives based on business value, risk, and dependencies, and take ownership of the scope, quality, timeline, and final outcomes of key projects.
Requirements
Master’s degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in data development, big data platforms, or data warehousing, including at least 2 years as a team lead or technical lead.
Hands-on experience building financial data platforms, with strong familiarity with the upstream TradFi data ecosystem. Good understanding of the differences in data sources, quality characteristics, and integration complexity across core datasets such as market data, financial fundamentals, and corporate actions. Experience at a brokerage, online brokerage, or financial data platform is preferred.
Expert-level SQL and Flink skills, proficiency in Python, and familiarity with big data technologies such as Spark and Kafka. Able to lead the architecture design, performance optimisation, and stability governance of large-scale data systems.
Solid experience in data warehouse modelling, real-time and offline data pipelines, metric systems, data quality, and data governance, with experience handling PB-scale data.
Strong business and product judgement, with the ability to design meaningful metric systems, translate complex data analysis and technical issues into clear and actionable recommendations, and drive alignment across teams.
Strong capabilities in team management, talent development, project governance, and cross-functional communication. Maintain high standards for technical quality and delivery details, and stay focused on high standards in a fast-changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing data teams within brokerages, trading platforms, wealth management companies, or financial data platforms.
Experience building equities data platforms, market data and corporate actions systems, financial fundamentals platforms, or quantitative research systems.
Familiarity with multi-market and multilingual data platforms, or data businesses related to equity derivatives, ETFs, indices, and tokenised products.
Proven experience building teams or platforms from 0 to 1, evolving legacy systems, or scaling experimental data and AI capabilities into production.
Experience in financial knowledge engineering or building high-quality AI training datasets.
