Role Description
We are looking for a WordPress Developer (Front-End & Back-End) with strong PHP expertise and hands-on Shopify development experience. You will own the full build cycle of WordPress websites and web applications, from custom themes and plugins to server-side logic and integrations, and you will also build and customize Shopify storefronts for our e-commerce clients.
Day-to-day, you will develop custom WordPress themes and plugins in PHP, build and extend Shopify themes using Liquid, turn UI/UX designs into responsive, pixel-accurate pages, integrate third-party APIs and payment systems, optimize site speed and Core Web Vitals, and keep sites secure, stable, and maintainable. You will work closely with designers, developers, and project stakeholders to deliver on time.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Ludhiana.
Key Responsibilities
Develop custom WordPress themes (classic and block-based) and plugins from scratch, following WordPress coding standards.
Write clean, secure, object-oriented PHP for custom functionality, hooks, filters, shortcodes, and REST API endpoints.
Build and manage custom post types, taxonomies, meta fields, and ACF-driven layouts.
Develop and customize WooCommerce stores, including checkout flows, product logic, and payment gateway integrations.
Build, customize, and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, Online Store 2.0 sections and blocks, and theme settings.
Configure Shopify stores, integrate and customize third-party apps, and handle metafields, collections, and checkout customizations.
Convert Figma/XD designs into responsive, cross-browser, cross-device front-end code using HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and JavaScript.
Optimize performance through caching, image optimization, lazy loading, database query tuning, and asset minification.
Apply security best practices: input sanitization, nonce validation, user role management, and regular updates and hardening.
Handle site migrations, hosting setup, backups, and troubleshooting across staging and production environments.
Use Git for version control and follow structured deployment workflows.
Qualifications
2+ years of professional experience in WordPress front-end and back-end development.
Strong proficiency in PHP (OOP), MySQL, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and JavaScript (ES6+); jQuery experience is a plus.
Proven experience building custom WordPress themes and plugins, not only configuring page builders.
Solid working knowledge of the WordPress REST API, hooks/filters architecture, and the database schema.
Hands-on experience with WooCommerce customization.
Hands-on Shopify development experience, including Liquid templating, Online Store 2.0 themes, and Shopify CLI.
Familiarity with page builders such as Elementor, Gutenberg, or WPBakery.
Experience with performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO basics.
Proficiency with Git and comfort working in staging/production workflows.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively on-site.
Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Experience building custom Shopify apps or working with the Shopify Admin/Storefront APIs.
Exposure to headless setups (headless WordPress or Shopify Hydrogen) and a JS framework like React or Vue.
Familiarity with Tailwind CSS, build tools (Webpack/Vite), and Composer.
Experience with server administration (cPanel, Nginx/Apache) and cloud hosting.
