Role Description The Mechanical Drafter is a full-time, on-site role based in Jalandhar, responsible for preparing detailed mechanical drawings and layouts for tyre manufacturing and related equipment. Day-to-day tasks include creating, updating, and revising engineering drawings using CAD software, based on specifications provided by design and production engineers. The role involves interpreting technical documentation, standards, and measurements to ensure drawings are accurate, manufacturable, and compliant with internal and industry requirements. The Mechanical Drafter collaborates with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to resolve design issues, optimize layouts, and support smooth implementation on the shop floor. Additional responsibilities include maintaining drawing records, version control, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in design and documentation practices.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Mechanical Drawings and Engineering Drawings, with the ability to interpret and translate technical specifications into clear layouts.
Solid skills in Technical Drawing, including dimensioning, tolerancing, and adherence to relevant drafting standards.
Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and Design Engineering practices, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related technical field.
Ability to read and understand mechanical schematics, bills of materials, and production documentation.
Attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and strong organizational skills for managing multiple drawings and revisions.
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams on-site.
Familiarity with safety standards and quality control requirements in an industrial or manufacturing setting is an advantage.
Prior experience as a mechanical drafter in tyre, automotive, mining, or heavy equipment industries is beneficial.
