Key Duties and Responsibilities
To serve our guests in accordance with Minor Hotels standards of food and beverage quality, presentation and sanitation, in a gracious and professional manner.
To display the best of our national hospitality and professionalism with guests.
To take pride in all facets of service, quality, appearance and cleanliness, in yourself and your area of responsibility.
In keeping with the indigenous nature of resort uniform design, Wine Gurus uniforms must differ from others.
All wine Guru’s must also have business cards noting the title.
Wine Guru’s scope of responsibility will mainly fall into the follow areas, but at all times standard procurement and approval processes at a property level must be followed.
Creation and update of the wine list and wine by the glass offerings
To create promotions and wine offers for all outlets
Control of the wine cellar to including maintenance and cleanliness
Drive the pre sales of wines for groups, weddings, Dining by Designs and other opportunities
Monthly wine menu engineering
Regularly organizes wine dinners, tastings and other such activities to drive revenue and/or create new guest experiences
Pioneer wine up-selling initiatives
Leading the wine sales in all outlets
Submits month end statistics to the properties F&B Director and Group Senior Wine Guru
Writes short monthly executive summaries covering wine sales/cost/store/awards/activities/other which will be submitted to the F&B Director and Group Senior Wine Guru
In cooperation with culinary operations and recreation, plan/execute wine of month/promotions/wine dinners/guest wine tasting.
Wine offers in room (mini-bar)
Maintaining/stocking all related wine equipment.
Maintaining proper wine inventory in the resort according to maximum and minimum par stock level
Staff training and development on wine knowledge
Developing more wine gurus in all main revenue contributing dinner outlets
To ensure that wine related information in the POS is clean, approved by GM/FC and up to date
Daily 15 minutes wine training for F&B team member, joining daily food taste panel and wine recommendation for that food
Insures glassware standards are of the highest standard
Have proper wine handling equipment available to service Team Members
Ensuring availability with minimal stock on hand
Monthly wine inventory check with cost controller
