Senior NodeJS Developer

Job Summary:
Vortech is a fast-growing B2B SaaS company building enterprise-grade platforms for global partners. We are establishing our Hyderabad engineering hub and looking for a Senior Node.js Developer to be one of its founding members. You will own technical delivery end-to-end, collaborate as a peer with our engineering teams across hubs, and help define what great engineering looks like in Hyderabad.
Key Responsibilities:
- Feature Development: Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend microservices using Node.js and TypeScript under the guidance of senior engineering leads.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while adhering to established coding standards, linting rules, and PR review practices.
- Sprint Execution: Own sprint-level delivery commitments — plan, estimate, identify risks early, and deliver high-quality code on schedule.
- Database Management: Write efficient SQL queries, optimize indexes, and work with relational database schemas (PostgreSQL / MySQL) and ORMs (Prisma, TypeORM).
- Testing & Quality: Embed quality into the development process through unit and integration testing (Jest, Supertest), collaborating with QA to maintain platform stability.
- CI/CD & Support: Participate in continuous integration, containerization (Docker) workflows, and troubleshoot production issues and performance bottlenecks proactively.
- Clear Communication: Communicate technical progress, dependencies, and constraints clearly within an agile team setup.
Required Qualifications:
MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on software engineering experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Solid understanding of Core Computer Science fundamentals, Data Structures, Algorithms, and Asynchronous JavaScript execution patterns.
- Hands-on experience with modern Node.js backend frameworks (NestJS, Express.js, or Fastify).
- Practical experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) — schema design, query optimization, indexing, and ORMs (Prisma, TypeORM).
- Proficiency with unit and integration testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, or Supertest).
- Experience with version control tools (Git / GitHub / GitLab) and package managers (npm, yarn, or pnpm).
- Basic understanding of containerization (Docker) and structured logging/error handling libraries (Pino, Winston).
- Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, and an execution-focused attitude.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively in an agile team setup.
NICE TO HAVE
- Understanding of Node.js runtime internals (event loop, asynchronous I/O, streams, worker threads).
- Exposure to event-driven messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS) or WebSockets.
- Exposure to caching layers (Redis) and API Gateways.
- Exposure to frontend frameworks (ReactJS) to collaborate effectively with full-stack engineers.
- Familiarity with CI/CD execution pipelines and cloud infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Basic awareness of enterprise SaaS integration patterns (webhooks, OAuth, multi-tenancy).
