Role Description The Testing & Commissioning Engineer (Electrical) is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai. The engineer will perform electrical testing and commissioning activities for power generation units, substations, and industrial installations, ensuring systems meet design specifications and safety standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include executing test procedures, calibrating and validating equipment, reviewing technical drawings, and preparing detailed test reports and documentation. The role involves diagnosing faults, troubleshooting electrical issues, coordinating with project teams and clients, and supporting safe energization and handover of electrical systems. The engineer will also assist in adherence to applicable codes, standards, and quality processes, while contributing to continuous improvement of testing methodologies.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Electrical Testing and Testing of power systems, equipment, and protection schemes.
Hands-on experience as Commissioning Engineers in electrical installations, substations, or power plants.
Solid foundation in Electrical Engineering principles applied to power generation, transmission, and distribution.
Ability to perform systematic Troubleshooting of electrical faults and equipment performance issues.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Familiarity with relevant standards and codes (such as IEC, IS, and utility guidelines) and safety practices.
Strong analytical, documentation, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate with site teams, clients, and vendors.
Willingness to work on-site at project locations, adhere to safety protocols, and manage time effectively.
Prior experience in testing and commissioning for thermal, hydro, or other power plants and substations is an advantage.
