Core Operations, Assistant Vice President

Role Summary
The Assistant Vice President, Global Payments India is responsible for managing teams supporting domestic and international payment operations, ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant execution of payment services across multiple markets and payment networks. Reporting to the Vice President, this role provides day-to-day leadership, supports operational strategy, drives continuous improvement, and maintains a strong risk and control environment while developing team members and future leaders.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership, People Management & Decision-Making
Lead and manage teams responsible for domestic and international payment operations.
Provide direction, coaching, and performance management for direct reports while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Make sound operational decisions and escalate risks, issues, and client impacts as appropriate.
Support the execution of strategic initiatives, operational priorities, and organizational objectives established by senior leadership.
Promote employee engagement, development, and retention.
Payments Operations, Risk & Compliance
Oversee day-to-day payment processing activities across multiple payment types, markets, and financial market infrastructures.
Ensure operational processes are executed in accordance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures.
Support a strong control environment through effective risk identification, issue management, and remediation activities.
Partner with Compliance, Risk, Audit, Technology, and business stakeholders to address operational and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to business continuity, operational resiliency, and service delivery objectives.
Talent Development, Training & Continuous Improvement
Develop team capabilities through training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Ensure employees maintain current knowledge of payment products, regulations, operational processes, and supporting systems.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance client outcomes.
Support succession planning and prepare employees for increased responsibilities and leadership opportunities.
Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Experience in payments, transaction banking, treasury services, or financial operations.
Working knowledge of domestic and international payment systems, operational controls, and regulatory requirements.
Leadership experience managing teams and driving operational performance.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant industry certifications are a plus.
