Senior Full Stack Engineer

Our client is expanding its software organization as it continues to scale a technology platform supporting modern financial products, transaction processing, and digital customer experiences. The engineering team is responsible for building the backend architecture, cloud systems, and developer infrastructure that allow the business to scale securely and reliably.
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is comfortable operating across the backend stack and taking ownership beyond a narrowly defined engineering function. You’ll primarily work in Python, building core services and APIs while also contributing to AWS infrastructure, data architecture, external integrations, and frontend development with React and TypeScript.
This position is well suited to an engineer who enjoys significant autonomy, can navigate ambiguous problems, and wants to see projects through from initial design to production. You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and business teams while helping shape architectural decisions and technical standards as the platform evolves.
Responsibilities
Design and develop backend services and APIs that support financial products and high-volume transaction workflows.
Build production applications primarily using Python, with Django experience considered a strong advantage.
Design, deploy, and maintain scalable infrastructure within AWS.
Lead projects from technical requirements and architecture through implementation, launch, and ongoing improvement.
Develop integrations with banks, payment providers, vendors, and external technology partners.
Design efficient data models and service architectures capable of supporting significant growth in transaction volume.
Work alongside frontend engineers and contribute to React/TypeScript applications when needed.
Improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and overall engineering efficiency.
Establish strong practices around automated testing, observability, monitoring, logging, and deployment.
Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, code reviews, and production incident response.
Help establish reusable patterns, engineering standards, and best practices across the organization.
Balance short-term product needs with long-term architectural quality and maintainability.
Qualifications
6+ years of professional software engineering experience building production-grade systems.
Strong proficiency in Python and backend development; experience with Django is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, service architecture, and data modeling.
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and AWS in production environments.
Working knowledge of React and TypeScript with the ability to contribute across the stack.
Experience building and operating highly available, cloud-based distributed systems.
Proven ability to independently drive complex technical projects from design through deployment.
Strong understanding of scalability, performance optimization, reliability, testing, and system architecture.
Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities and limited hand-holding.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
Compensation
Base Salary: $245,000 – $280,000

Rather than owning one isolated component, you’ll have visibility across the platform and the autonomy to influence how critical systems are designed, built, and operated.
