The Role
As our Pool Electrical & Automation Manager, you lead the electrical and low-voltage automation work on every new pool we build, and you grow our New Pools division by making Hawkins the go-to electrical subcontractor for pool builders across Tampa Bay. It's a hybrid leadership role: part pool electrical expert on the job site, part business developer in the field. We're looking for someone who can run a crew and read pool plans in the morning, then sit down with a pool builder in the afternoon and win the next job.
What This Role Is Not
We want to be upfront so you can decide if this is the right fit for you.
- Not a general residential electrician role. If your background is mainly residential service, remodels, or new home wiring without pool construction and automation work, this role won't be the right match.
- Not an install-only role. Growing our builder relationships is half the job, so you'll spend real time in the field meeting pool builders and winning new work.
- Not a desk job. You'll split your days between active job sites and builder visits across Tampa Bay.
What You'll Do
Grow the builder network
- Visit, call, and meet with pool builders, general contractors, and developers to introduce Hawkins as their go-to electrical subcontractor
- Turn new relationships into signed, recurring subcontract work, and keep those builders coming back
- Partner with leadership on pricing, bids, and contract terms for new builder accounts
- Track outreach, leads, and accounts won, and keep leadership informed on your pipeline
Lead pool electrical and automation work
- Build the electrical and low-voltage automation scope for each new pool, from plan review through final approval
- Oversee and perform installation of pool lighting, pump and filtration wiring, heaters, bonding and grounding, automation and control panels, and the residential wiring in and around each new pool
- Install, program, and troubleshoot Hayward OmniLogic, Jandy iAquaLink, and Pentair IntelliCenter/EasyTouch systems
- Make sure every installation meets NEC Article 680, local code, and manufacturer specifications
- Coordinate permits and inspections with inspectors and pool builders
Run the crew
- Supervise technicians and subcontractors across multiple active job sites
- Train your team on automation systems, best practices, and safety
- Keep accurate records of materials, labor hours, inspections, and change orders
What You Bring
Must-haves
- You know pool construction: 3-5 years of hands-on electrical work on new pool construction, including the residential wiring that goes with it. Residential electrical experience alone won't meet this requirement
- You program pool automation: you've installed and programmed Hayward, Jandy, or Pentair automation systems
- You know the builder side: you've worked as a subcontractor to pool builders, or directly alongside them
- You lead crews: you've supervised technicians or subcontractors across multiple job sites
- You know the code: strong working knowledge of NEC Article 680 and pool bonding and grounding, plus the ability to read pool plans, blueprints, and wiring diagrams
- You're not afraid to sell: you're comfortable walking into a pool builder's office, introducing yourself, and turning that conversation into recurring work
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Nice-to-haves
- Hayward, Jandy, and/or Pentair manufacturer certifications
- Existing relationships with pool builders in Tampa Bay
- Outside sales, account management, or business development experience
- OSHA 10/30 certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Pay, Schedule, and Benefits
- Base salary of $75,000-$85,000 depending on experience, plus a performance bonus tied to new builder accounts won
