Senior WordPress & PHP Developer

We’re hiring at Byteonic Labs.
We are looking for a Senior WordPress and PHP Developer who can take ownership of ongoing development work and solve problems independently.
This is not a basic WordPress page-building role. We need someone comfortable working with custom WordPress systems, existing production websites, APIs, integrations, and custom business logic.
What you will work on
• Custom WordPress plugin development
• PHP and WordPress backend development
• Existing custom themes and codebases
• Custom post types, fields, taxonomies, and dynamic templates
• REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations
• Form integrations and custom form processing
• Email and SMTP integrations
• Dynamic content and conditional logic
• Custom shortcodes
• Structured data and schema implementation
• Frontend fixes using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Responsive and cross-device issues
• Performance troubleshooting and optimisation
• Debugging production and staging environments
• Safely deploying and testing changes on live websites
What we expect
• Strong PHP and WordPress development experience
• Good understanding of WordPress hooks, filters, actions, database structure, and plugin architecture
• Experience building custom plugins instead of depending only on existing plugins
• Comfortable reading and understanding an existing codebase
• Able to investigate bugs and find the actual root cause
• Good understanding of Git and development workflows
• Able to test your own work properly before saying it is complete
• Able to explain technical issues clearly in simple English
• Good written communication
• Reliable with deadlines and updates
• Comfortable taking ownership of tasks without needing constant follow-up
Most importantly, we need someone who communicates when something is unclear, raises problems early, and does not wait until the deadline to report an issue.
Experience with large content websites, complex WordPress installations, API integrations, or long term website maintenance will be a strong advantage.
