About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to building the leading xOT Security Platform. This role is integral to our backend community within a matrix-style engineering organization. As a backend engineer at Dragos, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing high-performance, secure, and testable systems using Rust. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the platform’s robustness and scalability, supporting our mission to protect critical infrastructure. Success in this role requires a passion for craftsmanship, a customer-centric mindset, and the ability to operate independently in a remote environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive in staying updated with the latest technological advancements and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications
Experience working in cybersecurity, OT, or ICS environments
7+ years of experience developing backend systems in a fast-paced, high-performance team environment
3+ years of experience with relational databases such as Postgres
3+ years of experience with NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch
3+ years of experience working within a microservices architecture
Proficiency in Rust, or demonstrated ability to become proficient quickly
Experience integrating with third-party devices and data providers
Experience incorporating AI tools, models, or services into development workflows
Ability to lead technical decisions within a team or project scope
Responsibilities
Design and implement robust, high-performance systems and tools in Rust to support the Dragos platform
Optimize existing software architectures to improve speed, efficiency, and scalability
Participate actively in all phases of the development lifecycle, including debugging, testing, and optimization to ensure high software quality
Stay informed about the latest advancements in Rust programming, security practices, and software design principles, fostering a culture of continuous learning
Provide and receive peer feedback regularly as part of our review cycles to promote team growth and code quality
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate third-party devices and data sources seamlessly
Contribute to the development of secure coding practices and security-focused product features
Lead technical decision-making processes within your team or project scope to ensure alignment with organizational goals
