Founding Product Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a founding-level product engineering role on a small, fast-moving team building an AI phone assistant for SMEs across Europe. You will sit in the Engineering team and take end-to-end ownership of features, from early hypothesis through production, with real influence over product direction and architecture.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own features end-to-end, from discovery and prototyping through to production release.
- Lead product discovery by forming and testing hypotheses through rapid, lightweight experiments.
- Maintain close contact with customers, partners, and Sales to surface and prioritize real pain points.
- Design and implement tracking to gather the metrics needed for data-driven iteration.
- Build across the full stack, driving architecture decisions and seeing them through to release.
- Balance pragmatic short-term validation with longer-term scalability in every solution.
- Take radical ownership of initiatives and move them forward autonomously.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 3 years of product engineering experience delivering features end-to-end in a startup environment.
- Strong full-stack proficiency across Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, and React.
- Proven ability to own software from architecture and implementation through production release.
- Native or near-native German proficiency (B2 or above), essential for this role.
- Fluent English for team and cross-functional communication.
- Deep product mindset with responsibility that extends well beyond writing code.
- Comfort extracting and owning metrics to drive and defend decisions.
- Experience integrating large language models or building AI-powered product features (strong advantage).
- Available to work with overlap in Central European Time (CET).
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary range: 80,000 to 120,000 EUR annually, plus equity. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
LOCATION
Fully remote, with CET overlap required. An optional office in Vienna, Austria is available. The primary location for this role is Germany.
