Materials Manager

1. Scope of Position:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Materials Manager provides leadership for materials planning, inventory control, warehousing, and material flow activities across MAMT's Composites, Fabrication, and Multimatic Woodbine Tool operations. The role is accountable for material availability, inventory accuracy, traceability, working capital management, and continuous improvement of supply chain processes in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
2. Key Responsibilities
Lead materials planning, stores teams across MAMT locations.
Support customer program launches and engineering changes by ensuring material readiness, inventory strategies, and supplier capacity planning.
Ensure material availability for production, prototypes, tooling projects, and customer schedules.
Own SAP materials processes, including MRP, master data, BOMs, inventory transactions, and production supply.
Develop and execute strategies to improve inventory turns, reduce excess and obsolete inventory, and optimize working capital while maintaining customer service levels.
Manage storage, kitting, internal movement, outside processing, and inter-site transfers
Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventories, transaction controls, and corrective actions.
Monitor capacity constraints, lead-time risk, shortages, premium freight, and inventory exposure; lead corrective and recovery actions with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to supplier capacity, transportation disruptions, material shortages, business continuity, and geopolitical factors.
Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and employee development for materials, and stores personnel.
Establish performance objectives and ensure training and competency development plans are maintained for all direct reports.
Improve inventory, warehouse layout, replenishment, packaging, and material flow using Lean and 5S principles.
Coordinate transportation, customs documentation, and cross-border shipments.
Support sourcing, engineering changes, supplier development, program launches, and production readiness.
Report KPIs for material availability, inventory accuracy, supplier delivery, premium freight, inventory turns and working capital.
Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental, quality-system, customer, and company requirements.

Product-Line-Specific RequirementsComposites: Control prepreg, resins, adhesives, cores, inserts, and consumables using batch traceability, shelf-life, out-time, temperature, and first-expiry-first-out controls.
Fabrication: Manage sheet, tube, plate, hardware, weldments, and outside processes with effective grade, heat or lot identification and WIP control.
MWT: Support milestone-driven die and tooling projects, including steel, castings, standard components, outsourced machining, heat treatment, project BOMs, WIP, and finished-tool shipments.
Integrated Operations: Coordinate intercompany tooling and component flows among Composites, Fabrication, and MWT.

3. Key Relationships:
General Manager, Controller and Department Managers
Logistics team, Program Managers and Supervisors
4. Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum seven years of progressive materials, supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing operations experience, including leadership responsibility in a multi-site manufacturing environment
Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing; composites, fabrication, stamping, tool-and-die, or project manufacturing experience is preferred.
Strong SAP MM/PP, MRP, inventory control, BOM, production-order, logistics, and warehouse-management knowledge; SAP S/4HANA experience is an asset.
Working knowledge of IATF 16949 or ISO 9001, ISO 14001, traceability, customs, and trade compliance.
Strong leadership, analytical, financial, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365; Power BI experience is an asset.
Preferred certifications: ASCM/APICS CPIM or CSCP, Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), or an equivalent recognized supply chain credential. Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
Ability to work across multiple facilities and support both production and milestone-driven tooling operations.
5. Hours of Work: ·
8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday·

This job posting is for an existing vacancy. The total cash compensation range for this position is expected to be:
$84,000.00 - $134,000.00
