Position Summary:
Become an After School Instructor at St. Cloud Elementary School and be part of our dynamic team! Your role as an After-School Troop Leader revolves around creating a safe, fun environment with elementary-aged students. Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide excellent service to all students, families, co-workers, and school administration.
Meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the children in their care.
Work in a team environment; build and maintain healthy, cooperative relationships.
Communicate positively and effectively with the Site Director.
Adhere to all policies and procedures both organizationally and departmentally to ensure the safety of children, parents, and staff.
Model positive behavior and educate children in a manner which contributes to mature and responsible behavior.
Complete all Discover After School and governmentally required training in the required time frame.
Implement the curriculum and schedule provided on a daily basis and provide feedback to such on a weekly basis.
Qualifications:
Must complete the 40-hour Introductory Child Care Training approved by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) prior to start date (Training is free and completed online at your own pace) (Candidates who already possess these certifications are strongly preferred)https://www.myflfamilies.com/services/child-family/child-care/child-care-facility-school-age-children
Must also complete one of the following:
Part II “Special Needs Appropriate Practices” or at least 8 hours of training in serving children with disabilities
10-hour “School-Age Appropriate Practices” module
5-hour “Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practices” and 5-hour “School-Age Appropriate Practices” courses
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma.
Satisfactory Criminal Background Screening & Drug Screening.
First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (Paid for by employee).
Skills:
Eagerness to learn.
Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills in English is required.
Bilingual, with proficiency in both English and Spanish is a plus.
Highly motivated, enthusiastic, patient, responsible, and dedicated to enhancing program performance and impact.
Strong communication skills for interactions with children and administration.
Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities for daily challenges.

Compensation: $15.00 per hour. Bi-Weekly Pay.

Monday - Friday
Morning Care - 6:15AM - 8:00AM
After Care - 2:30PM - 6:00PM, 1:30PM - 6:00PM (Wednesdays)
*All positions are part time with the possibility for full time hours*
Discover After School Seasonal Camp Opportunity Disclosure:
At Discover After School, our main employment period is from August to June, with seasonal camp opportunities available during breaks. Staffing for camps depends on student enrollment, so not all staff may work during seasonal camp breaks. We conduct a survey at the end of each season to determine who is interested in working seasonal camps. Managers choose top counselors based on their work ethics and reliability, emphasizing factors like attendance and punctuality because camp is a full-day commitment and requires dependable staff. Additionally, we survey employees at the end of the school year to confirm who will return for the next school year.
