Geophysical Analyst

Amentum is seeking engineering professionals with education and/or experience in physics, physical sciences, mathematics/statistics, data science, or related technical disciplines to support the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) Program in Dahlgren, Virginia. This position is on-site in Dahlgren, VA, where Amentum has provided support to the customer for over 50 years.
The position will be part of our growing systems and software engineering team, supporting complex Digital Engineering challenges and applying technical expertise to DoD weapons and sensor systems in support of Navy modernization and mission success.
Geophysical Analyst Responsibilities Include:
Provide geophysical analysis in support of systems engineering and software engineering efforts.
Apply physics, physical sciences, mathematics, statistics, and/or data science principles to support technical analysis.
Perform analysis and problem-solving activities in support of professional scientific and engineering work.
Support the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) Program and related Naval projects.
Work independently and collaboratively within established teams and across organizations to meet established goals and schedule-driven timelines.
Communicate effectively with customers, engineering personnel, and other technical stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
0–5 years of experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or another applicable technical field, or equivalent experience in lieu of the education requirement.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact directly with customers and engineering personnel.
Ability to perform analysis and problem-solving techniques in support of professional scientific/engineering work.
Ability to work independently and with others within established teams and across organizations.
Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance. (At a minimum, must receive/be approved for an Interim Secret security clearance in order to start.) Note: U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.
Candidate must maintain a valid REAL ID driver’s license, required for access to the customer site, and have access to reliable transportation, as this position requires occasional travel between local work sites during the week.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in Physics or Physical Sciences, with experience or coursework in mathematics, statistics, and/or data science.
Compensation Details:
US: $95,000-$130,000
