Summary:
Serves as a senior enterprise strategy leader responsible for service-line strategy, market development, growth evaluation, strategic partnerships, major-investment analysis, and disciplined execution across a large integrated healthcare system. Acts as the primary extension of the Vice President, Strategy for assigned portfolios, provides leadership to the Strategy team, and converts complex clinical, market, operational, and financial evidence into recommendations, decisions, and measurable action.
Work Arrangement:
• Remote: Open to applicants in the United States, excluding CA, IL, ND, NY, OH, WA, and WY.
• Hybrid (Strongly Preferred): For individuals within 60 miles of Albuquerque, in-office presence is required Tuesday through Thursday.
Job Description:
Executive-Level Scope and Distinction
Enterprise Leadership
Owns an enterprise-wide and multi-service-line portfolio rather than a single project, department, or analytical specialty.
Integrates physician, clinical, operational, financial, market, technology, and partnership considerations into enterprise recommendations.
Leads strategy professionals and establishes methodologies, prioritization processes, quality standards, and accountability across the function.
Strategic Advisory Role
Serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on high-value, high-risk, and difficult-to-reverse strategic decisions.
Functions as the primary deputy to the Vice President, Strategy.
Maintains accountability for both strategy development and governance of implementation, including outcomes, milestone achievement, and course correction.
Regularly develops and presents recommendations for executive and governance review.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
Lead development and periodic refresh of multi-year service line strategic plans.
Own the service line planning methodology, including: Market assessment Competitive positioning Demand forecasting Access and capacity analysis Provider resource planning Financial performance evaluation Strategic priority development
Growth and Investment Strategy
Direct evaluations of: Organic growth opportunities Market expansion initiatives Partnerships and affiliations Joint ventures Acquisitions Major enterprise investments
Strategic Analysis and Due Diligence
Lead cross-functional diligence efforts.
Integrate findings across: Strategy Clinical operations Finance Legal and regulatory affairs Technology Workforce planning
Executive Decision Support
Develop decision-ready recommendations that clearly outline: Strategic options Key assumptions Value creation opportunities Risks and sensitivities Dependencies Implementation requirements
Strategy Execution and Governance
Establish governance structures for approved strategies, including: Roadmaps Milestones Accountable owners Key performance indicators (KPIs) Benefits tracking Escalation processes
Executive Stakeholder Engagement
Prepare and deliver presentations for executive leadership and governance forums.
Facilitate alignment among: Executive leaders Physicians Nursing leadership Operations leaders Finance Analytics teams
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop Strategy Managers and Analysts.
Allocate resources and ensure analytical quality, consistency, and execution excellence.
Executive Backup and Representation
Serve as deputy and backup to the Vice President, Strategy.
Represent the function in leadership forums and on enterprise strategic priorities.
Service Line and Initiative Scope
This role is designed to support enterprise priorities across multiple service lines. For compensation evaluation and job leveling purposes, leadership should identify the initial portfolio and the largest anticipated initiatives.

Partnership, affiliation, joint venture, acquisition, and investment evaluations
Enterprise strategic plan development, prioritization, annual refresh, and performance governance
Large-scale transformation, growth, and strategic initiatives sponsored by executive leadership

Additional Job Description:
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field.
Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
Experience
Typically 10+ years of progressive experience in: Healthcare strategy Strategic planning Business development Finance Corporate development Healthcare operations Management consulting
Leadership Requirements
Demonstrated leadership of complex enterprise-wide and multi-service-line strategic initiatives.
Proven experience partnering with executive leaders, physician leadership, and other senior stakeholders.
Demonstrated success leading teams directly and/or influencing large matrixed, multidisciplinary teams across the organization.
Preferred Credentials
Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) preferred.
Other relevant professional certifications or credentials may be considered based on candidate background and experience.
