Internship – Capital Markets Data & Analytics (Year-Round)

About the Roles:
Capital Markets Compliance Data Analytics
Baird’s Compliance interns work alongside experienced professionals to learn the laws, regulations and ethical standards that govern the financial services industry while gaining hands-on experience through meaningful projects. The Capital Markets Compliance team supports Equity Capital Markets, Equity Research, Global Investment Banking, Fixed Income, Public Finance, and firmwide regulatory and policy functions. In this role, interns will help design, develop and test regulatory technology (RegTech) data solutions while gaining valuable insight into Baird’s Capital Markets businesses through a compliance lens.
Global Investment Banking Data Analytics
This Data Analytics Intern will work closely with experienced data and analytics professionals on Baird’s Global Investment Banking (GIB) business to transform complex data into actionable insights that support senior leadership and stakeholders. Through hands-on analytics, reporting and data governance work, interns gain practical exposure to enterprise tools and real-world decision-making in a high-performing financial services environment. This intern will gain firsthand insight into how analytics support Investment Banking strategy and execution.
These are hybrid internships, working 3 days per week in our downtown Milwaukee, WI office and 2 days remote. The intern must be able to work full time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week, and work part time during the school semesters, 15-20 hours per week. The Capital Markets Compliance team is seeking a local student who can start in January 2027, or earlier if available. The Global Investment Banking team is seeking a local student who can start in June 2027.
The Impact You’ll Make:
Work with internal business partners to understand how the data we provide impacts the greater decisions at Baird
Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into scalable BI solutions
Create innovative data solutions and visualizations using SQL, Python and potentially PowerBI
Contribute to data governance, documentation, and quality assurance efforts to ensure trusted reporting
Assist in enabling business users through training, guidance, and self-service reporting support
Leverage AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve analytics workflows and productivity
What You’ll Bring to Baird:
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in data science, data analytics, computer science, computer engineering, information systems, information technology management, business analytics or other related areas with a proven track record of academic excellence
Anticipated graduation date of May 2028 or later
Curiosity to understand the application of technology and data when solving business problems
Exposure to data governance concepts and best practices
Understanding of data modeling concepts, including fact and dimension tables and relationships
Experience with Python, SQL and building reports in Power BI Desktop, including foundational DAX
Ability to responsibly utilize AI-assisted tools to troubleshoot DAX/SQL and automate routine BI tasks where appropriate
Familiarity with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouse platforms
Strong attention to detail with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work
Some financial market knowledge is preferred
