The Department of Accounting and Finance in the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Finance (Financial Planning) at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will also serve as Faculty Director of the Charles Schwab Foundation Center for Financial Wellness.
The Cofrin School of Business is building a distinctive financial planning program that integrates outstanding teaching, applied student learning, scholarship, professional engagement, and community impact. The successful candidate will join a growing program supported by the Charles Schwab Foundation Center for Financial Wellness and Willie D. Davis Finance & Investment Laboratory, providing exceptional opportunities to connect financial planning education with experiential learning, industry engagement, and community service.

The successful candidate will also provide academic leadership and strategic direction for the Charles Schwab Foundation Center for Financial Wellness. Working collaboratively with the Center's Program Manager, Advisory Board, school leadership, faculty, students, and industry partners, the Faculty Director will help advance the Center as a distinctive platform for financial wellness education, experiential learning, scholarship, and community engagement. The director will also represent the Center internally and externally as its academic leader.
The Faculty Director will play a key role in integrating the Center with undergraduate and graduate curricula; developing high-impact student experiences; promoting faculty engagement and scholarship; shaping strategic priorities; and expanding relationships with financial planning professionals, firms, alumni, donors, and community partners. The Faculty Director will also support the School in donor cultivation and philanthropic efforts that strengthen the Center's long-term impact and sustainability.

Teach a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in financial planning and finance.
Prepare students for success on the CFP® Certification Examination and careers in financial planning and related financial services fields.
Develop and support high-impact experiential learning opportunities that connect students with financial planning professionals, firms, and community partners.
Mentor students and support their professional development through the Cofrin School of Business's "Transcripts to Résumés" initiative.
Develop and maintain a productive program of scholarship consistent with rank, including opportunities for collaboration with students and faculty.
Engage meaningfully with the financial planning profession, regional business community, and relevant professional organizations.
Perform institutional and community service.
Contribute to ongoing program development within the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business.
Participate fully in the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business’ AACSB accreditation efforts.
Faculty Director Responsibilities:
Provide academic leadership and strategic direction for the Charles Schwab Foundation Center for Financial Wellness in collaboration with the Center Program Manager and Dean's Office.
Integrate Center activities with undergraduate and graduate curricula and expand high-impact experiential learning opportunities for students.
Promote faculty engagement, scholarship, research collaborations, and intellectual contributions aligned with financial planning and financial wellness.
Help define the Center's strategic priorities and ensure alignment with Cofrin School of Business and UW–Green Bay strategic goals.
Provide strategic oversight of Center resources and program priorities in collaboration with the Program Manager and Dean's Office.
Partner with the Center’s Program Manager and external Advisory Board to advance Center programming, industry engagement, student opportunities, and visibility.
Develop and strengthen relationships with financial planning firms, industry professionals, alumni, community organizations, and other external partners.
Support donor cultivation and fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Dean and University Advancement.

Competitive compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Personal Financial Planning, Finance, or Business with a specialization in Finance from an institution supporting an AACSB accredited business school by the end of the first academic year. Candidates who have not completed their doctorate by the start date will be hired into a terminal appointment at the rank of Instructor with a rate determined at the time of hire. Upon degree conferral, the title will change to Assistant Professor. The contract will not be renewed if the degree is not conferred by the end of the terminal appointment.
Evidence of a commitment to quality teaching
An ongoing record of scholarship, including peer-reviewed journal publications, consistent with the level of experience
CFP certification, or ability to sit for the CFP Board’s CFP® Certification Examination by the end of the second academic year
Evidence of engagement in institutional, community, and professional endeavors
Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic program, center, professional organization, business, or comparable setting.
Experience developing or implementing strategic initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with external partners and advisory groups.
Experience supporting fundraising, donor engagement, grants, sponsorships, or other resource-development activities.
A record of academic, professional, or industry leadership appropriate for appointment as Faculty Director.
Conditions of Appointment:
The home campus of this position is Green Bay. Courses will be taught both face-to-face and online (in asynchronous and synchronous formats). The specific courses taught may vary from semester to semester.
Position is an academic year, tenure-track appointment. Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years, although tenure decisions may be at any time. Promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor is simultaneous with tenure. Excellence in teaching, sustained scholarly activity, and institutional service required for retention and promotion. A pre-employment education check which includes, but is not limited to, the verification of academic credentials will be conducted on the finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).
