Job Duties:
This position reports to the Student Success Center Director of the School of Health Sciences and Wellness and is responsible for assisting health sciences and wellness students achieve their academic and career goals. The Coach will work one-on-one with students, as well as present information in classes and hold workshops and events. The Coach will proactively and purposefully help students succeed with expertise in student learning and success strategies. This staff member will provide consistent and reliable information to communicate effectively with students, especially with regards to major and career exploration, strategies for gaining relevant experience, and preparation for graduate school and/or career success.

Key Job Responsibilities:
This position may involve work expectations outside of normal UWSP office hours (e.g., night hours, weekend commitments, out-of-town travel, etc.).
Provide effective academic advising to students, assist with course selection, refer for services, provide resources.
Coordinate and lead one on one appointments, small group meetings, and large presentations to students majoring in a School of Health Sciences and Wellness major for academic skill development, major and career exploration, engaged learning and development and pre-professional preparation for graduate school and the world of work.
Serve as one of the course instructors for HSW 100 as well as other potential student success courses. Provide guest lectures and class presentations in SHSW courses, per instructor request.
Attend events or support functions of campus offices beyond the School level.
Serve on committees or participate in campus activities beyond the School level.

Compensation & Benefits:
The Student Success Coach is a full-time, salaried, exempt, annual (12-month), academic staff position.
Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary of $50,000 commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree
2 years of professional work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience impacting student success through coaching, advising, or mentoring
Familiarity with health-related academic programs and requirements
Demonstrated commitment to a culture of belonging
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening
