The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrical Strategist in our Ore Preparation Asset Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The Ore Preparation team supports both the Sinter Plant and Raw Materials Handling Area at our Port Kembla manufacturing facility. Raw materials required for the sintering process are received via ship, road, and rail before being processed for production. As an Electrical Strategist, you will develop and manage maintenance strategies and plans for plant equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Driving continuous improvement initiatives, you will provide strategic planning and problem-solving expertise to optimise equipment performance while delivering value and maintaining compliance across Ore Preparation.
This opportunity may suit an experienced electrical professional, an Electrical Engineering or Engineering Graduate. Opportunity exists to gain experience from either background to further develop their technical capability in a large-scale industrial environment.
What Will You Do?
Managing and developing the maintenance strategy of the overall Electrical plant, you’ll drive continuous improvement and reliability of electrical assets within the department. You will also:
ensure safety standards are never compromised making suitable changes when risks and opportunities are identified
investigate, fault find, and problem solve long term/systemic equipment issues to eliminate potential causes to determine the root cause and develop subsequent corrective actions
develop detailed scope of works and Inspection Test Procedures and commissioning plans for equipment
plan, coordinate and execute minor projects as required including multi trade discipline works for equipment improvement projects
More About You
As an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, you quickly adapt and have an eagerness to learn. You’ll bring:
an electrical trade (Cert III), a diploma or electrical engineering degree will be highly regarded or a willingness to complete a diploma
experience with industrial control systems, experience with instrumentation equipment will be highly regarded
a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
electrical experience in an industrial setting including materials handling
experience writing, developing and/or managing contracts
an understanding and knowledge of Electrical, construction and statutory safety requirements
