ABOUT THE JOB
As an Engineer Manager for Workplace, you will lead one or more cross-functional engineering squads responsible for designing, building, delivering and operating colleague-facing mobile applications, digital experiences and supporting platform services. Accountable for engineering excellence across mobile, API, cloud and platform capabilities while balancing delivery, quality, performance, security and reliability outcomes.
YOUR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage multi-Agile teams to deliver engineering standards, sprint backlogs, and plans, engineers’ responsibilities and performance management, code quality, adherence to development, and testing guardrails.
Educate the engineering teams and ensure the release of features to production to comply with NAB risk management frameworks.
Evangelist of the T-shaped working model; coach engineers to be T-shaped, versatile, and take responsibility outside their core disciplines;
Line management (1:1 meetings, personal development & training plan, career path, probation reviews, and performance reviews);
Lead engineering teams delivering native and hybrid mobile applications, digital experiences, APIs and backend platform services supporting colleague journeys.
Drive engineering practices across mobile architecture, API design, cloud-native development, observability, resilience, security and performance optimisation.
Ensure mobile solutions align with enterprise architecture, digital channel strategies and technology standards.
Partner with Product Owners, Designers and Architects to translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions.
Oversee technical design decisions, architecture reviews and engineering trade-offs across mobile, backend and integration components.
Drive engineering quality through automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, release governance, and secure software development practices.
Ensure applications meet accessibility, security, performance, and operational support requirements.
Drive a learning-based culture with an ability to set and gain agreement for realistic and stretching objectives for the team.
Drive delivery of customer-focused outcomes that improve product value, user experience, and business objectives.
Fulfil other tasks as assigned by your People Leader and/or authorized representative of NAB Vietnam from time to time.
YOUR SKILL AND EXPERIENCE
Must have:
10+ years working experience in Software Development; 5+ years' experience in leading cross-functional Agile teams
Strong understanding of mobile application development across iOS, Android, and modern digital platforms.
Experience with mobile architecture patterns, API integration, authentication, application security, and performance optimization.
Experience leading engineers across frontend, mobile, backend and platform disciplines.
Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production operations.
Ability to guide technical strategy while remaining hands-on enough to challenge architecture and engineering decisions.
Excellent experience in SDLC methodologies – Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall
Proven ability to manage and deliver complex technology projects involving multiple engineering teams both onshore and offshore
Real-world experience with large-scale Agile adoption, not just theoretical knowledge.
Strong stakeholder management experience;
Proven people leadership, team building, motivation, and coaching skills
Experience in managing code and change management processes
Experience with IT Service Management (e.g. Release Management) and experience with using Service Now or similar.
Strong ability to communicate at both strategic and operational level internally and externally, making effective decisions balancing business and stakeholder needs
Fluent English skills
Nice to have:
Agile – Certified Scrum Master (preferred)
Experience in the Banking or Financial Services industry; (preferred)
