Role Overview
Betway Africa is seeking a commercially astute and operationally strong VP: Financial Director to lead the end-to-end finance function across a complex, multi-market, high- growth environment.
This role sits at the heart of the business, partnering closely with executive leadership to drive performance, ensure robust financial control, and support strategic expansion across regulated African markets. The successful candidate will bring a balance of technical excellence, commercial acumen, and leadership capability within a fast-paced, data-rich business.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic C Commercial Leadership
• Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO and senior leadership team on all financial matters
• Drive financial strategy aligned to regional growth, profitability, and market expansion
• Provide insight-led analysis on performance, player trends, and revenue drivers
• Support market entry strategies, licensing decisions, and commercial investments
Financial Planning C Analysis (FPCA)
• Own budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes across Africa
• Deliver high-quality financial reporting, variance analysis, and executive insights
• Build and enhance KPI frameworks across sportsbook, casino, and payments
• Drive continuous improvement in financial modelling and decision support
Financial Control C Governance
• Ensure strong financial controls, compliance, and audit readiness across all markets
• Oversee statutory reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory obligations
• Partner with Group Finance to ensure alignment with NYSE-listed requirements (SOX where applicable)
• Manage relationships with auditors, regulators, and external advisors
Operational Finance C Payments
• Oversee money-in / money-out flows across diverse African payment ecosystems (mobile money, PSPs, banks)
• Ensure reconciliation integrity across high-volume transaction environments
• Partner with Banking, Fraud, and Risk teams to optimise payment performance and controls
Team Leadership
• Lead and develop a high-performing regional finance team
• Build capability across FPCA, reporting, and operational finance
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and commercial thinking
Key Skills & Experience
• Proven experience as a Financial Director / Head of Finance / Chief Financial Officer
• Strong exposure to multi-entity, multi-country operations, ideally across Africa
• Experience operating within a regulated and/or listed environment highly advantageous
• Strong grounding in financial reporting, controls, and compliance
• Deep understanding of high-volume transactional environments
• Experience with ERP systems and financial data platforms
• Knowledge of payments ecosystems (mobile money, PSPs) is a strong advantage
• Highly commercial, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
• Strong stakeholder management at executive level
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and high-growth environment
• Hands-on, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented
