Sr Lead Cost Estimation and Control Engineer

Job Purpose:
Lead Cost Estimation, control, and forecasting functions during all phases of project (Concept to Commissioning) by establishing cost estimation methodologies, cost structures. Develop cost estimates for various concept and recommend preferred concept.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead in establishing estimation system and processes (Class-1 to Class-5) aligned to project maturity, scope definition and uncertainty levels along with basis and assumptions.
Lead in development of cost estimate and contingency for various concept during early phase of the project
Perform Cost Risk Analysis, and Cost benchmarking based on historical data
Validate cost assumptions, estimation methodologies and input data by third party / contractor to ensure accuracy and reliability of cost estimation.
Define cost breakdown structures aligned with work breakdown structures to enable integrated planning and traceable cost management.
Develop cost baselines, budgets and cash flow projections aligned with project schedules, execution strategies and market conditions.
Develop and maintain cost forecasting models to provide forward-looking visibility of project financial performance.
Quantify cost impacts of technical, execution and interface risks and define contingency requirements to support financial planning.
Analyze cost performance trends and deviations against approved baselines to identify emerging risks and potential overruns.
Evaluate cost implications of schedule changes, execution strategies and scope variations in coordination with planning and risk teams.
Initiate cost revisions and re-forecasts based on approved changes and evolving project conditions.
Incorporate regulatory, compliance and ESG-related cost elements into estimates, budgets and forecasts.
Develop scenario-based cost analyses to evaluate alternative execution strategies and support decision-making under uncertainty.
Present cost forecasts, financial risks and scenario impacts to stakeholders to align expectations and enable informed decisions.
Integrate cost data with schedule and risk inputs to support a unified project control system.
Establish and standardize cost control procedures, templates and methodologies to ensure consistency and repeatability.
Introduce and implement cost control systems, tools and forecasting platforms to improve efficiency, accuracy and visibility.
Support governance processes by providing validated cost data for reviews, approvals and decision forums.
Capture cost trends, estimation deviations, and forecasting learnings to refine cost models and support transition to commercial-scale clean energy projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
15-20 years of experience in cost estimation, control within clean energy, oil & gas, infrastructure, or large-scale industrial projects.
Strong expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting
Experience in integrating cost with schedule and risk for comprehensive project controls.
Familiarity with cost control systems, and project control software.
Understanding of contingency planning, risk-based costing and scenario analysis.
Ability to translate technical and execution changes into cost implications.
Strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills for presenting financial insights.
