Role purpose:
Looking for Mid-level to Senior AI Developer with hands on experience in a modernization pod who uses and improves AI agents/skills to understand existing applications, execute code/runtime/security upgrades, resolve dependency chains and verify that applications operate correctly on target infrastructure.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• 4 to 7 Years of Application development or IT experience.
• 1to 2 years of experience building AI agents.
• Use approved AI agents/skills to analyze unfamiliar codebases and produce or refine technical specifications covering code structure, dependencies, integrations, data access, security logic, configuration and deployment.
• Execute modernization changes for Java and/or .NET applications, including JDK/framework/runtime upgrades, dependency updates, middleware/application-server compatibility, and target OS/infrastructure readiness.
• Trace transitive dependency impacts and remediate incompatible libraries/packages without introducing unnecessary architectural changes.
• Identify LDAP/legacy authentication and role authorization logic and implement approved Okta/token-based modernization patterns.
• Run and improve reverse engineering and forward-engineering agents, capture gaps, false assumptions, failed instructions and reusable improvements for subsequent applications.
• Write production quality code, configuration, scripts, tests and technical documentation, review AI generated code rather than accepting it blindly.
• Perform unit and integration testing, debugging, defect root cause analysis, and remediation in partnership with testers.
• Analyze database and integration impacts when servers, drivers, runtimes, endpoints or dependencies change.
• Participate in code reviews, security reviews, CI/CD execution, deployment validation, and human in the loop verification.
• Escalate architectural ambiguity, security risks, unsupported dependencies to the Development Lead.
Required Skills:
• Strong Java or .NET application development experience, Java candidates should be comfortable with enterprise runtimes, dependency management, and application servers.
• Hands on experience using agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or equivalent for real software engineering work.
• Ability to author or modify agent instructions/skills/workflows, not only prompt for code snippets.
• Strong debugging and systems analysis skills across code, configuration, logs, APIs, databases, middleware, dependencies, and runtime environments.
• Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows server environments, Git, CI/CD, build tooling, automated testing, SQL, APIs, and secure coding.
• Conceptual understanding of LDAP authentication/authorization and modern token-based identity patterns.
• Comfort working from technical specifications and validating generated changes with tests and observable evidence.
Preferred Skills:
• JDK modernization (for example, moving older Java applications toward current supported JDKs), JBoss applications, Maven/Gradle.
• Okta, OAuth/OIDC/JWT, secrets management.
• Python, MCP/tool integrations, LLM APIs, or agent frameworks.
• GCP or comparable cloud platforms.
• Experience modernizing legacy enterprise applications in insurance/financial services.
