To lead Cost Management Commissions, taking responsibility for end-to-end service delivery, often with respect to large or complex projects. To act as the key, day to day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate quality standards.
Taking a key role in interfacing with the client and other consultants throughout all project stages.
Commissions are managed to the right quality standards and are completed efficiently and on time.
Strong relationships are developed with clients and members of the cross-functional team.
Margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts are kept track of on all commissions.
Producing feasibility studies and writing procurement reports.
Estimating and cost planning to include producing and presenting the final cost plan.
Tendering and procurement, including managing the prequalification stage, producing the tender list, putting the preliminaries together, conducting pre tender estimates, tender analysis, producing the tender report and compiling the contractual documents.
Dealing effectively with post contract cost variances and the change control processes.
Progress claim assessments on site of drawings of the plan.
Taking personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects and in all cases ensuring that timely and accurate cost checking and valuation takes place.
Producing monthly post contract cost reports and presenting to the client.
Follow governance processes and systems that are utilised throughout the project and cascade Turner & Townsend cost management procedures to the relevant staff.
A recognised degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management desired.
MRICS / AIQS qualified with considerable industry experience.
Skills and Experience:
A strong background in the delivery of consultancy services to the sectors serviced by Turner & Townsend.
Experience of leading cost management commissions for medium to large sized construction projects and/or programs of medium to high complexity.
At least 6 to 11 years’ experience.
Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
People management experience, particularly in the context of managing a cost management team delivering a project.
A thorough understanding of the total project life cycle, from project conception stage, through all of the operational stages to completion and post-project review.
Preferred software – CostX, CATO, CADMeas VR5.
