JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Position Overview
Avilamb Inc. is seeking a GCP Cloud Engineer to build, automate, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise Google Cloud Platform environments. The role requires deep hands-on GCP operations experience, Infrastructure as Code, cloud networking, containers, identity and access management, CI/CD, and technical documentation.
2. Key Responsibilities
Build, deploy, automate, and maintain secure GCP cloud environments.
Engineer and troubleshoot core GCP infrastructure, networking, GKE, and CI/CD services.
Manage Compute Engine workloads across Linux/Red Hat and Windows operating systems.
Deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
Deploy and maintain serverless Python services using Cloud Run.
Create reusable Terraform modules and enforce secure cloud configurations.
Administer IAM roles and policies, including Workload Identity Federation (WIF) for secure keyless authentication.
Develop and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools.
Implement cloud networking including VPC, DNS, load balancing, hybrid connectivity, firewalls, IDS, NAT, and related services.
Create and maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, and compliance documentation.
3. Required Qualifications
Minimum 6 years setting up, configuring, and using GCP cloud operational tools while meeting service levels, performance targets, and compliance requirements.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on engineering experience with GCP core services, including infrastructure, networking, GKE, and CI/CD troubleshooting.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a technical discipline; the source requisition notes that 10 years of additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Hands-on Compute Engine experience with Linux/Red Hat and Windows workloads.
Strong GKE, Cloud Run, Terraform, IAM/WIF, cloud networking, and CI/CD experience.
Ability to produce technical and compliance documentation.
Must meet background eligibility requirements and be able to obtain Public Trust.
4. Preferred Qualifications
Active Public Trust.
Current GCP certification such as Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Engineer.
Federal Government experience.
Experience with FedRAMP, HIPAA, NIST 800-53, CIS benchmarks, or similar regulated environments.
Multi-cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or Oracle.
OpenShift, Kubernetes, VM image management, vulnerability remediation, and ITIL knowledge.
Experience with Cloud Storage, BigQuery, AI data preparation, or pre-trained AI APIs.
5. Technical Environment
GCP: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, IAM, Secret Manager, Cloud KMS, Security Center, VPC Service Controls, Binary Authorization.
Networking: VPC, DNS, Load Balancing, Hybrid Connectivity, Network Connectivity Center, Firewalls, IDS.
Automation/DevOps: Terraform, Cloud Build, GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, Ansible. Operations may include Splunk, Dynatrace, SolarWinds, ServiceNow, Jira, Turbot, Apptio, Cloudability, Tenable Nessus, CrowdStrike, Armis, Centrify, BigFix, and NetSkope.
