Role Purpose
To lead end-to-end merchandising operations for woven garments from order confirmation to shipment, ensuring on-time delivery, cost efficiency, quality standards and strong buyer relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Handle entire merchandising cycle for woven garments - enquiry, costing, sampling, order confirmation, production follow-up to shipment.
Liaison with buyers for order confirmations, tech packs, approvals and delivery schedules.
Prepare detailed costing sheets considering fabric, trims, CMT, overheads and achieve targeted margins.
Coordinate with design, pattern, sampling, procurement, production, IE, QA and logistics teams.
Manage fabric and trim sourcing, in-housing and follow-up as per BOM and T&A.
Prepare and monitor Time & Action calendar for all orders to ensure on-time delivery.
Review and approve fit samples, PP samples, size set samples and coordinate for buyer approvals.
Resolve production issues related to quality, delay and costing with internal teams and buyers.
Track order status, WIP, inspection and shipment planning.
Lead, mentor and manage merchandising team to achieve departmental goals.
Maintain MIS reports, order trackers and regular reporting to management.
Required Technical Skills
Strong expertise in Woven Garments - shirts, trousers, jackets, bottoms, workwear, etc.
In-depth knowledge of woven fabrics, washes, trims, embroidery, printing.
Excellent costing, consumption, sourcing and negotiation skills.
Hands-on experience in T&A management, production planning and quality standards (AQL).
Strong knowledge of export documentation, compliance and buyer audits.
Proficiency in ERP / Excel and order tracking systems.
Qualifications & Certifications
Degree / Diploma in Apparel Merchandising, Fashion Technology, Textile Technology or related field.
Additional certification in merchandising is an advantage.
Other Requirements
*15-20 Years of experience mandatory* in woven garments manufacturing / export house.
Must have handled international buyers (USA / Europe).
Must be currently based in Chennai or willing to work from Royapettah, Chennai.
Strong communication, leadership and buyer-handling skills.
Must be available for immediate joining or max 15-30 days notice.
Stable career with long tenure in previous companies preferred.
