Senior Frontend Engineer, React/Typescript

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer, React/TypeScript based in Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to build and own scalable, consumer-facing web experiences within a remote-first engineering environment. You will develop new and existing products using React and TypeScript while taking ownership of major areas of the frontend codebase. The position combines hands-on engineering with architectural decision-making and long-term maintenance of critical components. You will work closely with backend engineers, mobile teams, product, and design to deliver polished experiences across devices and browsers. Strong attention to performance, testing, privacy, and usability will be central to your work. You will also contribute to improving frontend architecture and shaping how complex products are built and maintained.
Accountabilities
Build, maintain, and improve scalable user interfaces and consumer-facing web applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Lead and contribute to the development of new product features and improvements across existing applications.
Take ownership of major frontend components, including their architecture, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Write pragmatic, performant, reliable, and testable code that works consistently across different devices, browsers, and environments.
Contribute to frontend software architecture and technical decisions for complex, large-scale web applications.
Lead engineering projects independently, defining implementation approaches and driving work from planning through delivery and ongoing maintenance.
Establish success criteria and relevant metrics, and use data and outcomes to validate technical and product decisions.
Collaborate closely with backend engineers and engineers working across other platforms, including mobile applications.
Partner with product and design teams to create polished, intuitive, and privacy-focused consumer experiences.
Continuously evaluate new technologies, ideas, and engineering practices that can improve the quality, scalability, and maintainability of frontend systems.
Requirements
7+ years of professional experience in roles where software development was the primary responsibility.
Advanced expertise in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Advanced proficiency with React and TypeScript.
Advanced understanding of web application architecture and experience designing solutions for complex applications.
Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale web applications.
Ability to independently lead engineering projects with minimal oversight and take ownership of significant areas of a codebase.
Experience making technical architecture decisions for complex products.
Strong understanding of frontend performance, scalability, reliability, and testing practices.
Experience collaborating effectively with backend and cross-platform engineering teams, including Android and iOS teams.
Experience working closely with product and design teams to deliver high-quality consumer-facing products.
Ability to define meaningful success criteria and use metrics to assess whether solutions are achieving their intended outcomes.
Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, and problem-solving skills.
Willingness and ability to learn new technologies, approaches, and ideas.
