SAP S/4HANA Upgrade & Conversion Consultant

About Position:
We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Upgrade & Conversion Consultant to lead and execute technical upgrade and conversion projects across enterprise SAP landscapes. The ideal candidate will possess strong SAP Basis expertise and hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA upgrades, system conversions, technical assessments, downtime optimization, cutover planning, and post-go-live stabilization.

What You'll Do:
Conduct technical readiness assessments and identify prerequisites, dependencies, risks, compatibility requirements, and remediation activities.
Analyze existing SAP landscapes and evaluate upgrade and conversion readiness.
Develop end-to-end upgrade and conversion plans covering Sandbox, Development, Quality, Rehearsal, Production, Hypercare Environments.
Execute SAP S/4HANA upgrades and conversion activities using SAP lifecycle management tools.
Manage and troubleshoot Software Update Manager (SUM) processes throughout upgrade and conversion lifecycles.
Coordinate simplification item checks, add-on compatibility assessments, and custom code remediation activities.
Collaborate with development, security, infrastructure, database, and functional teams to ensure overall system readiness.
Plan and execute downtime optimization strategies to minimize business impact.
Develop and manage technical cutover plans, fallback strategies, rollback procedures, and recovery plans.
Support system backup, recovery validation, and business continuity activities.
Analyze logs, technical issues, system defects, and upgrade failures while driving root-cause analysis and resolution.
Coordinate with SAP and third-party vendors during critical issue escalations.
Manage transport activities, interface validation, security coordination, and integration readiness throughout project execution.
Support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), production rehearsals, and go-live events.
Monitor project risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions, and mitigation plans.
Prepare and maintain migration workbooks, status reports, runbooks, risk logs, lessons learned, and technical documentation.
Provide post-go-live hypercare support and stabilization services.
Guide stakeholders on technical options, upgrade strategies, sequencing, and implementation risks.
Ensure adherence to security, quality, governance, change management, and service management standards.
Expertise You'll Bring:
5-8 years of hands-on SAP Basis administration experience.
Strong expertise in SAP system architecture and landscape management.
Experience managing enterprise SAP production and non-production environments.
Strong understanding of SAP NetWeaver, SAP Basis Administration, SAP Kernel Maintenance, Transport Management, Interface Management, System Copies, Client Administration.
Experience supporting mission-critical SAP environments.
Proven experience executing SAP S/4HANA upgrade and conversion projects.
Strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA migration methodologies and best practices.
Experience planning and executing technical upgrade activities across multiple landscape cycles.
Strong understanding of SAP simplification items and conversion prerequisites.
Experience managing rehearsal runs, production cutovers, and hypercare activities.
Ability to plan and execute upgrades with minimal business disruption.
Extensive hands-on experience with Software Update Manager (SUM).
Expertise in SUM Planning, SUM Execution, Troubleshooting, Recovery Procedures, Downtime Optimization.
Experience handling upgrade failures and managing technical remediation activities.
Strong understanding of SAP lifecycle management processes.
Strong experience with SAP HANA environments.
Knowledge of HANA Administration, Backup & Recovery, Database Maintenance, Performance Monitoring, High Availability Concepts.
Understanding of database dependencies during upgrade and conversion projects.
Experience validating database readiness and technical compatibility.
Experience managing Upgrade Planning, Cutover Execution, Rollback Planning, Production Validation, Go-Live Activities.
Strong understanding of release, change, and deployment management processes.
Experience coordinating cross-functional project teams and stakeholders.
Ability to manage critical production activities with strong ownership and accountability.
Experience supporting System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Production Rehearsals, Go-Live Readiness Reviews, Hypercare Support.
Strong troubleshooting and defect management capabilities.
Experience conducting root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Excellent customer-facing and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and business audiences.
Experience coordinating with SAP support teams, vendors, infrastructure teams, and business users.
Strong documentation and reporting capabilities.
Ability to work effectively in globally distributed environments.
