Neogen is seeking a Tax Intern to join our Corporate Tax team. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with corporate tax processes while working alongside experienced accounting and tax professionals. The intern will support a variety of tax compliance, reporting, research, and administrative activities while developing an understanding of tax operations within a global organization.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns and supporting workpapers.
Gather, organize, and analyze financial information needed for tax compliance and reporting.
Support preparation of tax account reconciliations and related schedules.
Assist with sales and use tax, property tax, and other state and local tax activities as needed.
Support quarterly and year-end income tax provision processes.
Research basic tax issues and summarize findings for members of the Tax team.
Assist with responding to tax notices and gathering documentation for audits or inquiries.
Maintain tax files, documentation, and supporting schedules.
Work with Accounting, Finance, and other business functions to obtain information needed for tax reporting and compliance.
Assist with special projects, process improvements, and other tax-related activities as assigned.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Neogen's current internship listing specifically identifies Accounting or Finance students.
Foundational understanding of accounting principles.
Interest in corporate taxation and a desire to develop tax knowledge.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Coursework in federal taxation, corporate taxation, or related accounting subjects.
Previous accounting, finance, or tax internship/work experience.
Familiarity with ERP, accounting, or tax software.
Interest in pursuing a CPA or other accounting-related professional certification.
