Neogen is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our Finance team. This internship provides an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a corporate environment while gaining hands-on experience with accounting and financial processes. The intern will work alongside experienced professionals, support day-to-day activities and projects, and develop practical skills that provide a strong foundation for a career in accounting or finance.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with monthly financial reporting, including preparing schedules, updating templates, and validating financial data.
Support accounting and financial analysis activities, including researching discrepancies and ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting by gathering data, performing variance analysis, and preparing summary reports.
Perform cost, trend, and KPI analysis to support business decision-making.
Maintain financial spreadsheets, databases, dashboards, and supporting documentation.
Partner with Finance and cross-functional teams to gather information and complete assigned projects.
Assist with process improvement initiatives and system-related projects.
Support basic financial modeling and other ad hoc accounting and finance activities as needed.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial concepts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, functions, and spreadsheets.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Accounting coursework or previous accounting/finance internship experience.
Exposure to ERP or financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
Experience with or interest in data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
