The Job You Will Perform:
Lead all Business Unit activities in the Paper area and Shipping in an engaged manner that is favorable to all safety, budget, and efficiency expectations. Work closely with the other mill Business Units personnel to achieve mill objectives.
Lead, by example, the safety processes for the department – including safety performance, safety work systems, incident reporting and corrective action plans, HSE program elements, operator safety training, and environmental policy compliance.
Ensure that the Bogalusa mill’s Paper and Shipping areas operate in accordance with all company policies.
Responsible for coordination of all operations, maintenance, engineering, and scheduling activities within the department. The department includes all equipment, structures, and personnel associated with the Paper Machines and Warehouse/Shipping.
Lead operations and maintenance personnel to achieve performance and operating machine efficiency targets.
Manage total spending and budgeting processes for the Paper and Shipping areas.
Responsible for the proper implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s reliability systems within the department including Preventative Maintenance/Predictive Maintenance, Instrumentation Essentials - Precision Maintenance, Manufacturing Work Streams, Root Cause Failure Analysis, Basic Care, Outage Planning, etc.
Responsible for implementation and continuous improvement of operational systems, including Daily Management System, Monthly Business Review, Strategy Deployment, Management of Change, Trouble Cause Correction, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.
Ensure that all capital projects in the Paper and Shipping Department are developed and implemented successfully. Provide input to other mill projects that stand to impact productivity, shipping, fiber balance, or overall efficiency.
Develop the 15-year Facility Plan, annual capital spending ideas/plans, cost reduction initiatives, and 3-year maintenance 1-timer plans for the department.
Manage Union Relations for the department.
Foster a motivated workforce by maintaining positive employee relations and ensuring that the teams have what they need to be successful.
Maintain oversight of all employee engagement, employee relations, discipline (including Step 2 meetings), one-to-one completion, and performance improvement plans.
Develop direct reports in their current roles and prepare them for future assignments.
Chair the training steering team for the department and ensure there are adequate plans in place to match current training efforts to the future needs of the department.
As a member of the Lead Team, actively participate in providing counsel and making decisions on matters that impact the direction of the mill.

Minimum:
Demonstrated and successful leadership ability in a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of and leadership in manufacturing safety practices.
7+ years’ experience in pulp and paper.
