COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University is seeking applications for a Course Lecturer for the Winter 2027 to teach the anatomy laboratory component of ANAT 316 for students in Kinesiology.
Course Overview : ANAT 316 provides an in-depth study of regional human gross anatomy, with emphasis on The gross anatomy of the internal organ systems of the human body, with emphasis on those aspects of greatest relevance to physical, occupational therapists and kinesiology. Laboratory activities include guided study of prepared cadaveric specimens (prosections).
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Course Lecturer will be responsible for leading the 2 weekly cadaveric-based laboratory activities for kinesiology students enrolled in ANAT 316. Laboratory sessions involve the identification and interpretation of anatomical structures using pedagogical material and pre-dissected cadaveric specimens (prosections).
The successful candidate will actively supervise and support a team of Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Undergraduate Course Assistants (UCAs), ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, respectful, and engaging learning environment. Primary responsibilities include:
Leading and facilitating two weekly anatomy laboratory sessions as well as contributing to and leading lectures, where appropriate, in coordination with the Course Coordinator.
Supervising and coordinating TAs and UCAs before and during laboratory activities
Supporting student learning through hands-on anatomical teaching and active discussion
Reinforcing laboratory safety procedures, professional conduct, and adherence to the Anatomy Laboratory Code of Conduct
Assisting with the setup, implementation, and grading of assessments, including bell-ringer examinations and others
Contributing to student assessment and evaluation
Participating in course planning discussions and coordination meetings with the course coordinator
Holding office hours and providing academic support to students as needed

TEACHING QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrate excellent teaching ability in human gross anatomy laboratories and prosection-based instruction.
Demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills in supporting both teaching teams and students in human visceral anatomy education.
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate the ability to foster an inclusive, respectful, and professional learning environment.

Minimum requirement: Master’s degree in Anatomy or a related field; preference will be given to candidates who are at least currently enrolled in, a PhD in Anatomy or a closely related discipline.
