OVERVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTION
The Regional QHSE Advisor provides proactive Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) support across an assigned operational portfolio within the UK.
Operating as part of the UK & Ireland QHSE function, the role supports operational teams in implementing the regional QHSE management framework, ensuring risks are effectively managed in line with organisational standards, legislative requirements and client expectations.
The role combines operational partnership with professional QHSE oversight and challenge providing risk-based support, assurance and engagement to improve safety performance, quality, environmental compliance and operational resilience across a diverse operational portfolio.
1. Portfolio Scope
Supports an assigned regional operational portfolio which may comprise one or more business units, service lines, sectors, strategic customer accounts or geographical regions.
Portfolio allocation will reflect organisational priorities, operational complexity, risk profile and business growth.
2. Authority & Escalation
Operate with appropriate autonomy across the assigned portfolio, using professional judgement to prioritise QHSE activity and provide advice within established UK & Ireland QHSE frameworks, policies and standards.
Independently manage routine QHSE matters within the portfolio, including operational advice, risk assessment support, planned assurance activity, incident follow-up, improvement actions and day-to-day client engagement.
Determine when additional QHSE intervention, support or verification is required based on risk, performance and operational circumstances.
Provide professional challenge where QHSE standards or controls are not being effectively applied and agree appropriate actions with operational management.
Escalate significant, complex or material risks, serious incidents, regulatory matters, significant control failures, unresolved non-compliance or matters outside delegated authority to the Senior QHSE Manager.
Seek guidance from the Senior QHSE Manager where matters require interpretation of regional policy, significant deviation from established standards, wider business intervention or senior leadership engagement.
3. Operational QHSE Support
Provide visible and proactive QHSE support.
Partner with operational managers, and to provide guidance, coaching and support.
Support RAMS and operational controls.
Support investigations and lessons learned.
Support mobilisation and operational change.
Support compliance with client and legislative requirements.
4. Risk Governance and Support
Support implementation of the UK & Ireland governance framework.
Promote compliance with legislation and company standards.
Support the Integrated Management System.
Maintain awareness of legislative changes.
Support regulatory engagement.
Develop and review risk assessments and controls, escalating higher-risk or complex matters as required.
Support business continuity where applicable.
5. Assurance & “Trust and Verify”
Deliver risk-based audits and inspections.
Verify effectiveness of operational controls.
Support operational self-assurance.
Support ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 audits.
Escalate significant findings.
Maintain assurance and audit records.
6. Performance & Improvement
Analyse incident and audit trends.
Support improvement plans.
Maintain reporting systems.
Support business improvement and tenders.
7. Mobilisation & Change Governance
Support mobilisation of new contracts and material operational change.
Provide risk-based QHSE input and readiness support.
Escalate higher-risk or complex mobilisation requirements as appropriate.
8. Culture, Engagement and Capability
Develop and support safety communications and toolbox talks.
Coach operational leaders and teams.
Build capability within operational and QHSE teams.
Promote a strong safety and risk-aware culture.
Support leadership accountability for QHSE performance.
9. Client and Stakeholder Engagement
· Develop client and stakeholder relationships.
· Support governance in client meetings and audits.
· Represent QHSE during visits and mobilisations.
· Support compliance with applicable QHSE legislation and standards.
· Engage with clients, regulators and stakeholders.
Leadership Responsibilities
· Demonstrate visible QHSE leadership.
· Influence operational leaders and teams.
· Coach operational teams.
· Promote UK&I consistency.
Act as a role model – Leading by example
Requirements
· QHSE experience in multi-site operational environments.
· Experience in working within governance frameworks and assurance programmes.
· Strong knowledge of UK Safety legislation and standards.
· Proven ability to influence, coach & train stakeholders.
· Proven ability/experience of being able to work well in a team, as well as alone
· Pragmatic approach to problem solving and articulation of clear solutioning
Experience & Capability (Desirable)
· Experience within Facility Services Environment. (Commercial, Public Sector and Technical (M&E) Services)
· Able to operate within structured governance models (ISO, 3LoD).
Qualifications
· NEBOSH (or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
· Membership of IOSH, IIRSM, or similar.
· IOSH Training qualification (Desirable)
