Project Engineer - Commercial Electrical Projects

We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors, you will help keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving efficiently.

Responsibilities
Support Project Managers with the planning and execution of commercial electrical projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Prepare, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, transmittals, procurement logs, and project documentation.
Review electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and scopes of work.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors.
Track material procurement, equipment deliveries, long-lead items, and critical project milestones.
Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting.
Participate in project meetings, site visits, coordination meetings, and progress reviews.
Collaborate with estimating and BIM/VDC teams on constructability, coordination, and installation planning.
Maintain accurate project files, meeting minutes, correspondence, and document control.
Assist with material takeoffs, procurement planning, commissioning, logistics, and project closeout.
Help identify and resolve scheduling, procurement, documentation, and field coordination issues.
Support compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, company standards, and safety objectives.
Requirements
2+ years of experience in commercial construction, project engineering, or electrical construction.
Experience with a commercial electrical contractor or specialty electrical subcontractor is preferred.
Working knowledge of commercial electrical systems, installation methods, sequencing, and field operations.
Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, scheduling, and construction documentation.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
Willingness to travel to project sites throughout the Detroit metropolitan area.
Experience with healthcare, higher education, institutional, manufacturing, industrial, or other complex commercial projects is a plus.
