We are hiring a Warehouse Operations Supervisor with experience driving process improvements and leading high-performing teams. The position oversees shipping, receiving, inventory, and material flow operations while focusing on Lean initiatives, cost reduction, warehouse optimization, and inventory accuracy across multiple locations. Strong leadership, analytical skills, and a continuous improvement mindset are key to success. Qualified candidates must be willing to work an onsite schedule at our Greeneville, TN location.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Lead daily shipping, receiving, warehousing, order picking, material handling, and inventory activities across multiple warehouse locations.
Supervise, coach, and develop warehouse team members while establishing clear expectations for safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and accountability.
Lead daily Tier meetings and use KPI performance to identify issues, assign actions, escalate barriers, and drive sustainable corrective actions.
Coordinate shipping priorities, transportation methods, and schedules with trucking vendors, planning, production, and other internal partners to meet customer requirements.
Ensure outgoing orders are picked, packed, documented, and shipped accurately and on time.
Maintain accurate and timely inventory transactions to provide reliable inventory visibility throughout the organization.
Investigate and resolve shipping, receiving, inventory, and material-flow discrepancies.
Support and lead physical inventory and cycle-count activities while driving improvements that increase inventory accuracy.
Process Improvement & Cost Reduction
Conduct a comprehensive review of warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory, and material-handling processes to identify opportunities for significant improvements in cost, productivity, space utilization, material flow, inventory accuracy, and service levels.
Develop and execute a prioritized continuous improvement roadmap for warehouse operations.
Identify, quantify, recommend, and implement cost-reduction projects with measurable financial and operational results.
Apply Lean and continuous improvement principles to eliminate waste, unnecessary movement, excess handling, waiting, transportation, and non-value-added activities.
Establish baseline performance, define improvement targets, and track results to ensure improvements are sustained.
Material Flow & Warehouse Optimization
Evaluate existing stocking locations, point-of-use inventory, staging areas, rack layouts, material routes, and warehouse space utilization.
Redesign stocking strategies and material locations where appropriate to reduce travel distance, material handling, congestion, and overall operating cost.
Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and other functions to improve material flow from receiving through production and ultimately to customer shipment.
Evaluate opportunities for warehouse layout changes, visual management, standard work, material presentation, replenishment strategies, and technology improvements.
Use operational data to make fact-based recommendations regarding warehouse capacity, labor requirements, storage strategies, and future capital needs.
Inventory Optimization
Regularly analyze inventory levels, usage, aging, and movement to identify excess, obsolete, slow-moving, and inefficiently positioned inventory.
Develop recommendations for disposition, consumption, relocation, stocking-policy changes, or other actions to reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
Partner with Planning, Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and other stakeholders to improve inventory turns and working-capital performance while protecting customer service.
Identify root causes of excess inventory and implement systemic improvements to prevent recurrence.
Leadership & Talent Development
Build a high-performing warehouse organization through coaching, training, accountability, and employee development.
Develop standard work and cross-training to strengthen organizational capability and reduce dependency on individual employees.
Identify and develop future team leaders and create appropriate succession plans for critical warehouse responsibilities.
Build strong working relationships across Production, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Transportation.
Demonstrate the leadership capability and business acumen necessary to progress toward broader management responsibilities.
Safety & Compliance
Maintain safe, clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environments, including racks, staging areas, docks, and shipping/receiving zones.
Proactively identify safety risks and implement corrective actions.
Promote a culture in which employees actively identify hazards and improvement opportunities.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
5+ years of progressive experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, materials, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
Demonstrated experience improving operational processes rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory management, material handling, and warehouse operations.
Experience using ERP, WMS, or similar business systems.
Ability to analyze operational data and translate findings into actionable improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated success leading Lean, continuous improvement, productivity, or cost-reduction projects.
Experience with warehouse layout optimization, material flow, point-of-use inventory, Kanban/replenishment systems, or value-stream improvement.
Experience analyzing and reducing excess and obsolete inventory.
Experience managing teams or operations across multiple locations.
Experience developing KPIs and using data to manage operational performance.
Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement training/certification.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other data-analysis tools.
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Annual Salary Range: $84,000-$105,000. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to applicable work experience, training, education, performance.
