Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Position Overview
The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology, seeks an accomplished faculty researcher to advance tobacco research through an independent, externally funded program and interdisciplinary collaboration across the OSUCCC – James. The successful candidate will contribute to the institution’s research, education, mentorship, and service missions through the following activities:
Develop and lead an independent, externally funded research program in tobacco research. Publish impactful research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across the OSUCCC – James, including basic scientists, clinicians, and translational researchers.
Contribute to graduate and medical education through teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development.
Participate in departmental and institutional service, including committee work and strategic initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor and will serve as a faculty member in the Division of Medical Oncology within the Department of Internal Medicine and the Center for Tobacco Research. The candidate will develop and lead an independent research program focused on tobacco research and policy; secure external research funding; publish impactful findings in peer-reviewed journals; present research at national and international conferences; collaborate with basic scientists, clinicians, and translational researchers across the OSUCCC – James; and participate in the academic commitments of the division and department, including teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, committee service, and strategic initiatives. A doctoral degree in the biological sciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
Requirements
PhD or MD/PhD required; Considerable post-doctoral experience in basic research required; considerable experience in tobacco research and policy required; proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred; understanding of key components of grant writing and obtaining funding in support of research required; experience with administration of funded research required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Faculty Defined
Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research. ​
Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.​
